As always, I'm looking for more people to share their favorite fics! If you're interested in reccing fics on Teaspoon, please sign up – and definitely take a look at our updated rules in the rules and sign-up post, because you can now rec some previously recced fics!

If you're finding us on Tumblr, don't worry, you can still rec; just send me an ask, and we'll work out a way for you to do that. Same goes for Facebook and Twitter users; leave a comment in the post, and I can always post on your behalf.

Hey everyone -- it was easy to move to Dreamwidth, but it's still hard to find reccers, and we're out of them come April 10. If you're interested in reccing fics on Teaspoon, please, please, please sign up -- and definitely take a look at our updated rules in the rules and sign-up post, because you can now rec some previously recced fics!

If you're finding us on Tumblr, don't worry, you can still rec; just send me an ask, and we'll work out a way for you to do that. Same goes for Facebook and Twitter users; leave a comment in the post, and I can always post on your behalf!

Our poll results were conclusive: you voted 3:1 to move us to Dreamwidth. So, on February 27, we'll relaunch at , which is already restyled and fully imported with the LJ archives.

What happens next
  • Well, I need reccers, obviously, including one starting February 27. Please sign up over at Dreamwidth! Tell your friends!

  • To encourage more reccers, I am making a rule change: up to 50% of your recs may now be previously recced stories, provided they were recced at least two years ago. The Dreamwidth import preserved all original posting dates, so you'll still be able to tell how long it's been since your fave was recced.

  • Don't have a Dreamwidth account? No problem. They're free, and even if you don't feel like creating one, you can still join the comm via an OpenID-friendly service like LJ, Facebook, Twitter, etc.; you just won't be able to post anything other than comments on your own. You're still welcome to rec by emailing me your recs to post, so sign up today!

  • Don't want to use Dreamwidth, but still want to keep up with the comm? We'll continue to crosspost to Tumblr (once I reset my IFTTT recipe), and I've also set up an RSS feed you can subscribe to on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] calufrax_dw. Just follow that feed to continue seeing posts from the comm.

Any questions? Let me know. And thank you, as always, for your continued participation in and support of the comm.

It's been a while since we were active, which is entirely my fault. (I plead "2016," which isn't an excuse, but is an explanation I suspect most of you will understand.) We are of course out of reccers and need people to sign up -- but before I get to that, let's talk about what happened to LJ at the very end of the year.
LJ's current status, plus an important poll )

With that out of the way: WE NEED RECCERS. Because this poll affects our location, and people need time to prep recs regardless, let's say that the first reccing slot will begin on January 30. If you want to rec, now's the time to volunteer -- and even if you don't feel like reccing, please do spread the word!

Thanks as always for your patience with me while I sort out these comm details. The comm is quite literally nothing without all of you.

Dear lovely community members,

I apologize for letting things go dark here for -- yikes! -- slightly more than a month. I have no real excuse beyond having needed a break myself, but I'm here again and want to crank things back up, hopefully starting July 18.

In order to do that, though, we need reccers. Lots of 'em, honestly, because we're out. As always, everyone, new and old reccers alike, is welcome to rec. All you need to do is select 4-10 stories that haven't been recced before and that meet the comm's fairly basic rules (well-written/formatted, no bashfic, etc.). Reccing periods last two weeks; complete rules and sign-up instructions in this post.

Tumblr, Facebook, Google+, and other users reading this: you don't need a LiveJournal account to rec! If you're interested in reccing, you can comment in the sign-up post, leave me an Ask on Tumblr, or email me at nonelvis42 on Gmail. (Note: if you're a Facebook user who wants to volunteer, please contact me by email; I have no Facebook account, and LJ doesn't send OpenID users comment notifications, so I have no reliable way of reaching you beyond email.)

Please share this post far and wide! The community needs you. And I appreciate each and every one of you who's stepped up to rec (many of you more than once) or simply read or followed the comm. [livejournal.com profile] calufrax is nothing without you ♥

It's that time: [livejournal.com profile] calufrax needs reccers starting April 4. This is your chance to impose your taste on others share the stories you love on Teaspoon!

I can hardly believe it, but we're coming to the end of the year -- and also to the end of our current series of reccers. I'm looking for people willing to rec fics starting on January 11, and as always, everyone, new and old reccers alike, is welcome to rec. That'd be me. (Strictly speaking, the comm itself has no thumbs, but you get the idea.)

We are out of reccers as of April 20. If you've been reading this comm for a while but have never stepped forward to rec, please consider it – everyone, new and old reccers alike, is welcome to rec. We are finally coming to the end of our reccing pipeline, so I'm looking for volunteers to start reccing beginning February 9. (Previous reccers preferred for that two-week slot, as I'll be away at Gally for the last half of it and will not be able to keep a close eye on the comm.) If you've been reading this comm for a while but have never stepped forward to rec, please consider it – everyone, new and old reccers alike, is welcome to rec. Thanks to the amazing members of this comm, we've gone from having no one in the reccing queue to booking dates in November. I am really grateful; the comm literally does not exist without you, and so many of you stepped up to help.

(Of course, if you haven't volunteered to rec yet and want to, the sign-up post is always open! But the immediate crisis is over.)

I hate to capslock at you, but seriously: we're out. [livejournal.com profile] clocketpatch will be reccing for the next couple of weeks, and [livejournal.com profile] ffutures has graciously volunteered for another stint in September, but other than that, my reccing calendar is empty.

Please, please, please: if you've ever thought about reccing but have never stepped forward, now's the time. If you've recced before and want to try again, now's the time. If you're not sure if you want to rec, contact me, and I'll talk you into it answer any questions you have about it. And if you have friends who might want to rec, please share this post with them.

A reccing slot from August 5-18 has come free -- anyone want to grab it? Two weeks, 4-10 fic recs, unlimited rice pudding, you know the drill.

Claimed! But feel free to sign up for other slots if you like.

Okay, our reccing period poll showed very strong support for a two-week reccing period instead of biweekly recs, so two weeks it is. However, there was also some support for moving beyond 4-7 recs, so I'm going to try splitting the difference between low/high options at 4-10. You are by no means required to rec 10 fics, but please feel free to if you like.

I'll contact those of you who have signed up to rec over the next few months to confirm your two-week timeslots.

Thanks again for your input here, and for your continued support of the comm.

Earlier today, I made a post saying the comm would now run biweekly. A couple of members have suggested running reccing periods for two weeks instead, so I'd like to sort out what people would prefer.

This poll will stay open until Friday, June 1, 8pm EDT.

Effective Monday, June 3, [livejournal.com profile] calufrax will be moving to a biweekly (every other week) posting schedule.

As always, I'm really grateful to those of you who have stepped forward to rec fic for this comm. This community depends on people like you to survive. Unfortunately, with LJ slowly going the way of the dinosaur, we no longer have enough volunteers to sustain a weekly schedule. (We have had one volunteer from Tumblr, which was great -- more Tumblr users are welcome, too, what with this comm being cross-posted there.)

If you'd like to rec for [livejournal.com profile] calufrax, we have open slots beginning August 5. Please consider volunteering, bugging your friends about volunteering, hiring skywriters to promote volunteering, etc. You can sign up anytime by leaving a comment on this post.

Thanks.

I know it seems like I just asked for more reccing volunteers, and ... that's because I did, about a month ago. Unfortunately, we only got a few signups, which means we're out of reccers as of May 6.

If you've been reading this comm for a while but have never stepped forward to rec, please consider it – everyone, new and old reccers alike, is welcome to rec. You only need to select four stories that haven't been recced before and that meet the comm's fairly basic rules (well-written/formatted, no bashfic, etc.).

To volunteer, just leave a comment in the sign-up post. And if you can't or don't want to rec for whatever reason, please consider reblogging this post on LJ and Tumblr so that more people find out about the comm. (Special note for Tumblr folks: you can volunteer, too! Ask me how.)

Thanks for your help, everyone.

We're finally starting to run low on reccers here at [livejournal.com profile] calufrax, so if you've recced before but want to volunteer again – or if you've never recced before, and want to join the fun – now's the time. Open slots begin April 15.

All you need is a mere four stories on Teaspoon you love – more's great too, but not required – that are well-written, don't all include exactly the same pairing (though they don't all have to be different), and don't involve character bashing. Questions or comments about volunteering? Head on over to the sign-up post – and thanks!

I posted a call for reccers a couple weeks ago, but now things are really dire: we have no one signed up for the next two weeks, and no one at all after mid-December. I'll be cross-posting this message to a few other comms in the hopes of drumming up some more people, and please consider doing so yourselves. The comm survives only if people volunteer to rec fics.

If you or anyone else you know is interested in reccing, please leave a comment in the sign-up post. (You don't need to be a member to view that post, though you'll need to join to rec.)

Thanks, everyone.

I can't believe how quickly this year is going by! But here we are anyway, and the comm could use some more reccers starting in the middle of November. If you've never recced before, now is a great time to start; and if you have recced before, you're always welcome to do so again.

All you need is a mere four stories on Teaspoon you love – more's great too, but not required – that are well-written, don't all include exactly the same pairing (though they don't all have to be different), and don't involve character bashing. Many of you volunteered the last time I called for more reccers, for which I'm very, very grateful -- but we're finally about to run out! If you'd like to rec at [livejournal.com profile] calufrax, our next open slot begins September 17.

All you need is a mere four stories on Teaspoon you love – more's great too, but not required – that are well-written, don't all include exactly the same pairing (though they don't all have to be different), and don't involve character bashing. New and old reccers are welcome anytime; just sign up here.

(Not really, but I'm almost at that point.)

See, we're out of reccers. And when I say "out of reccers," I really do mean it, because starting April 23, the schedule is 100% empty. No volunteers. Not a soul.

Please, if you've ever considered reccing, have friends who have been on the fence about it, or just want to make sure the comm doesn't go dark, I beg of you, volunteer or encourage others to sign up. All you need is a mere four stories on Teaspoon you love -- more's great too, but not required -- that are well-written, don't all include exactly the same pairing (though they don't all have to be different), and don't involve character bashing. Then join the comm, if you're not already a member, and sign up here.

I am also open to suggestions about how to increase participation. Feel free to leave a comment here or PM me about this.

Thanks, everyone.

You've all just been waiting for an opportunity to rec on [livejournal.com profile] calufrax, haven't you? Well, that time has come: the comm has slots starting on March 26, open to anyone, new and old reccers alike.

All you need to do is pick four to seven of your favorite fics on Teaspoon and tell us why you love these stories. All characters, pairings, genres, eras, and ratings are welcome, as long as the stories are well-written (that is, the author should know how to spell, format and the difference between "it's" and "its") and avoid attacking any particular character or pairing in a malicious way.

If you're interested, please leave a comment on the sign-up post. (You'll need to join the comm to see that post, but membership is open.)

Please feel free to link or repost this anywhere -- the more people who see it, the more volunteers (hopefully, anyway).

We've got a hole in the schedule starting January 30, February's a bit scattershot, and the schedule is empty after that. So if you've been thinking about reccing but putting it off, now's the time -- you don't even need to rec more than four fics! Easy!

Sign up here. (You'll need to join the comm to see that post, but I promise, there's nothing scary there.)

Way back in May, someone suggested we set up a Tumblr site that pulled in [livejournal.com profile] calufrax recs, so that folks on Tumblr could enjoy the reccing goodness as well. This was an awesome idea, and I set up the site immediately.

Unfortunately, this was when I discovered that Tumblr's RSS import, to put it diplomatically, is less robust than I'd hoped. Or, put less diplomatically: it sucks. A lot. Sometimes it works for a week, only to spend the next two weeks working sporadically or not at all. I am halfway convinced most chimpanzees, with or without a degree in computer science, could have done a better job coding things.

I've been putting off announcing calufrax.tumblr.com until Tumblr got its act together, and finally, finally it seems to have been working reliably for several weeks. (Watch now as my optimism jinxes it and RSS import falls over dead later today.)

Anyway, if you want to follow calufrax.tumblr.com, it's there, delivering the same wonderful [livejournal.com profile] calufrax recs to you on your Tumblr dashboard ... probably.

All characters, genres, eras, and pairings are welcome, as long as the stories are well-written (that is, the author should know how to spell, format and the difference between "it's" and "its") and avoid attacking any particular character or pairing in a malicious way.

If you're interested, please leave a comment on the sign-up post. (You'll need to join the comm to see that post, but membership is open.)

Because I was apparently orbiting Neptune yesterday, I neglected to give this week's reccers actual, you know, posting access so as to rec anything. [livejournal.com profile] kindkit and [livejournal.com profile] kitsunealyc, you now have posting access and my sincere apologies.

If you like to rec at [livejournal.com profile] calufrax you're signing up for a week where, ideally, you make a post each day reccing one fic that's archived at the Teaspoon. However, so long as you make a minimum of four recs during the week, that's fine.

All eras, genres, characters and pairings are welcome, but the fic must be archived at the Teaspoon.

For each rec, please fill out the handy form below:

Story:
Author:
Rating:
Word Count:
Author's Summary:
Characters/Pairings:
Warnings: please DO NOT warn for slash or het.

Recced because:

To sign-up, just leave your user name below and what eras of who you'd be able to rec in (classic series, new series, Big Finish and so on.)

Before you do sign-up, please remember that we expect recs to be well-written fic (that is the author should know how to spell, format and the difference between it's and its) and avoid attacking any particular character or pairing in a malicious way.

Please remember that this is a general community, containing fans of all era of the show and keep that in mind when choosing your recs. Please do not rec the same pairing all week, variations of the same pairing (that is, for instance, just 10/Rose and 9/Rose) or the same characters. Focussing on one particular character is acceptable only if they are recced in a variety of pairings or with characters of varying eras or in a variety of het, slash and gen.

And worry not about tagging, your lovely mods will take care of that, yes.

If you agree to rec a particular week, then you'll get a comment reminder on the day before you start reccin', as some of these dates are quite forever away.

If you miss a day or such and are going to be posting more than one rec on the same day to catch-up, could you please make the recs in separate posts, that is one rec per post.
