Story:  Back to Where You Once Belonged
Author:  sensiblecat
Rating:  All Ages
Word Count:  3,408
Author’s summary: It wasn’t 1913 that changed everything between them; it was 1969. Funny, that.
Characters/Pairings:  Tenth Doctor, Martha
Warnings:  None

Recommended because: I’m fascinated by the Doctor and Martha’s time in 1969 (what did the last of the Time Lords do with himself all day with no TARDIS?), and I like to believe that the version in this story is exactly what happened.  They have no money, it’s hot as hell, and there’s nothing to distract them from the problems of their relationship post HN/FoB. They're both out of their comfort zones.  The Doctor and Martha have to actually talk to each other.  The story does a wonderful job of probing the less pleasant aspects of their relationship and moving towards something healthier.  The author has a great feel for the characters’ voices and motivations. Thoughtful description evokes the grunginess of their life so well you can practically smell the sweat.

Series: Emotional Baggage
Author: sensiblecat
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 6924 words (total series)
Author's summary: A series of conversations following Donna and the Doctor through Series 4.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Donna Noble
Warnings: none

Recced because: There's just something about Donna that makes the Doctor want to talk in the stories in this series. Every conversation they have reveals a little bit more about the Doctor's deeper character as well as Donna's. This the Donna we see on screen, magnified. It's an absolutely gorgeous series and if you only decide to read one series about the Doctor and Donna, I highly recommend that this be it.

Story: Harvest
Author: sensiblecat
Rating: All Ages
Author's summary: It's 1969, money is tight and the Doctor isn't getting his five a day (Portions of fruit and veg, that is). But Martha, and the Italian family upstairs, may have the perfect solution.

A tale of Ten, Martha and a lot of zucchini (or courgettes, as they are known in Europe)
Characters/Pairings: Martha Jones, The Doctor (10th)
Warnings: None
Word Count: 3,113

Recced because: This is the first "1969" fic I read, sinking into the details of the months that Martha and the Doctor spent waiting for the events of "Blink" to come together and bring the TARDIS back to them. It has a perfect Martha voice- sensible and smart and still a bit starry-eyed about the Doctor, as together they embrace the Earth-bound flip-side of the TARDIS lifestyle- helping people and solving the small-scale problems that come with living on a shopgirl's income in London 1969.

Story: A Tale of Two Doctors
Author: sensiblecat
Rating: All Ages
Author's summary: At the end of "Time Crash" the two TARDISes separated and took Five and Ten back to their respective timelines.

But something went a bit wrong. The Doctors separated. The TARDIS sort of......cloned.

Now Five has Ten's TARDIS, and he's about to find out about the Year that Never Was. But why's he in a parallel world, and who is the girl waiting on the beach?
Characters/Pairings: Fifth Doctor, Tenth Doctor, Rose Tyler, Pete Tyler, Mickey, Donna, Jack, Martha (Pairing: Tenth Doctor/Rose)
Warnings: None

Recced because: I'm a sucker for well-written multi-Doctor stories and this one ranks right up there as one of my absolute favourites. There's a bit of timey-whimey stuff, a lot of angst, and some fantastic in-depth examinations of a number of the issues that Series 3 brought to life. This is a Doctor who's soul is bared for all to see, a Doctor who's broken, but most of all we have a Doctor who's starting to heal. There's also an older, wiser Rose whose insights into the Doctor are absolutely brilliant. This is, in my opinion, one of sensiblecat's best stories and one where she shows us just what it means to be the Doctor.
