Word Count:

Author's Summary:
Does Donna really need to remember her travels with the Doctor to unlock the confidence and strength she found on her travels with him? Doesn't that suggest that there's something wrong with living on Earth? Sarah Jane and Torchwood gang up to save Donna - one way or another.

Characters/Pairings:
Alan Jackson, Clyde Langer, Donna Noble, Ianto Jones, Jack Harkness, Luke Smith, Maria Jackson, Mickey Smith, Other Character(s), Sarah Jane Smith, The Doctor (10th), The Doctor (Author Created).... phew...

Warnings:
None, although a touch of language near the beginning.

Recced because:

I love this story. Period. It's a Donna-centric AU, where Team TARDIS get a bit narked that the Doctor wiped Donna's memories, and try to help her as much as they can. After they find her a job, Donna does a little bit of Donna-iness, and she slowly puts her life back together again. Yes, I know that it's been recced before, but seriously, it's worth reccing twice. Watch out for the suprise twist ending :-) A great story, with incredible characterisations.

Author's Summary:
11th Doctor one-shot just after regeneration. 11th/OC. Maybe some romance if you squint. AU COMPLETE

Right then, today's rec. It's another AU Eleven post-regen fic, this time set, mostly, in a shopping centre in Hereford. The Doctor tries to remember who he is, and for the most part fails miserably. However, his attempts at doing completely normal things are invariably hillarious, (Striding!). Once he gets to grips with his new self, he goes in search of love/a companion (although they're interchangeable nowadays!). A short one-shot from one of the newest authors on Teaspoon.

Extract from... well... the only chapter XD )

Aaagh! I'm really, really sorry about not posting this yesterday, but it was HECTIC over at chez Robot. (Internet was only working for 30 second bursts, and then my bedroom door fell apart... literally!) Anyways, today I'll post two, so stay tuned! Expect the next one in about half an hour.

Story: A Wind From Another World

Author: Poetry

Word Count:

Author's Summary:
When a portal appears in the skies of Cardiff, the TARDIS team tumbles into another dimension and becomes tangled in an enigmatic prophecy. Doctor Who/His Dark Materials crossover (though no familiarity with the crossover fandom is necessary) set after Boom Town.

Characters/Pairings:
Jack Harkness, Rose Tyler, The Doctor (9th).

Warnings:
Swearing

Recced because:

Well. Normally I don't really go for crossovers, because the circumstances in most are a tad unbelieveable. However, this one is definitely one of the better ones, namely because of the malliability of the target universe, the His Dark Materials universe. For those of you unfamiliar with the trilogy, it is centred on a girl named Lyra Belacqua, set in a parallel Earth, where your "inner voice" takes an animal form, or daemon, outside of your body. Through the course of the trilogy, Lyra and her daemon, Pantalaimon,  discover artifacts that allow them to travel through different parallel universes. A Wind From Another World takes that concept and runs with it. At the beginning of the story, the TARDIS is pulled through an interdimentional portal, to Lyra's universe, know as the Omega Tau universe to the Time Lords. Poetry has set this as a Nine fic, although it must be said that her Nine is a touch more like Ten in many respects. However, this is a well executed and thoughtful 'fic, and I look forward to seeing the conclusion. Bonus points are added for the liberal use of external media to further engage the reader. (Nice illustration, by the way!)

There is no Bad Wolf. Rose has to get back to the Doctor the hard way. (AU for "Parting of the Ways")

Characters/Pairings:

Warnings:

A nice, fluffy Rose fic today. It's an AU for Parting of the Ways, where Rose takes the long road in getting the Doctor back. Along the way, she concocts a brilliant - if risky - plan, involving circumventing the Blinovitch Limitation Effect, and rationalising with a suicidal... well, you'll see in the fic :-D. Short, sweet, and fluffy. (Probably needed after Mortek... XD)

Hello Calufrax! I'm Robotnick2, and I'm going to be your reccer for this week. I discovered Teaspoon around July last year, and was instantly hooked. Hopefully, I'll bring to you some of the gems that Teaspoon has to offer.

Right now, to business. I appear to have the exquisite pleasure of being the first reccer after the introduction of a new Doctor... (:-O). So, rather predictably, I've chosen one of the stories from the category with the least fics on the site: that of the Eleventh Doctor.

Story: Mortek

Author: ValW

Rating:
All Ages

Word Count:
42,722

Author's Summary:
When a barely-conscious man in an ill-fitting suit barges in, burbling about a doctor, there’s only one place he could have come from, isn’t there? *NOTE* Epilogue contains End Of Time part 2 regeneration spoilers.

Characters/Pairings:
Original Companions, The Doctor (11th).

Warnings:
None, although it does get a little icky after chapter 10.

Recced because:
Well. Hmm. Ah.

At first glance, Mortek is a weird, comedic look at an AU post-regen Doctor. Struggling to get to grips with his new self, our new hero collapses into the arms of our fantasy loving heroine. After our aforementioned new hero franticly explans that he doesn't do ambulances, aforementioned fantasy-loving heroine calls on gardening-loving other hero, armed with first hand evidence of post-regenerative trauma.

And then it gets brilliant.

Mortek is a semi-dark, serious story about the dangers of alien tech in the wrong hands. ValW's Eleven is almost perfect; a mix of Eleven's awkwardness and bounciness, and Ten's sharp wit and steely anger in the face of adversity, with a touch of Three's "seen-it-all-before" attitude. Whilst the plotline wouldn't look out of place as an Ian Fleming novel, the sheer Doctor-Whoiness of it sets it apart. Battling a secret organisation, and the underlying menace of manipulative aliens, while trying to cope with his -dare I say it- most traumatic regeneration yet, the Doctor shines in his new role as protector of Oxfordshire. An all-round great story, written by an up-and-coming, if unusual, author.
(Not many people reuse their companions!)
