Story: Two to Make Peace
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 4885
Author's Summary: The assignment was supposed to be simple. But since when have any of Miles Vorkosigan's assignments been simple? Especially when the stranger with the blue box turns up.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor and Miles Vorkosigan from Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga
Warnings: None
Recced because:

Because it's Miles Vorkosigan and the Doctor having adventures together! This is a very well-written story with a cracking plot and dialogue that sparkles. If you're at all familiar with the Vorkosigan Saga, I highly recommend giving it a read. It's great fun.

And that's it from me this time around. I hope you all enjoyed the recs!

Story: Unsinkable
Author: [livejournal.com profile] versaphile
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 4329
Author's Summary: Post-VOTD. The Doctor has nowhere to go, and ends up in Cardiff
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor/Jack Harkness
Warnings: None
Recced because:

This might have been the first Jack/Doctor I ever read. Three years later, it is still one of my favorites. It is achingly beautiful. The Doctor is the broken one here, but I love the hope that it offers both characters. And there is a wonderful (and wonderfully hot!) sequel as well!

Story: Little Red Book
Author: [livejournal.com profile] pocketmouse
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 3585
Author's Summary: Amy supposes traditionally she should've picked a black book, but then she's never been one for tradition.
Characters/Pairings: Amy Pond/Rory Williams(/Eleven)
Warnings: None
Recced because:

This fic is both funny and touching. [livejournal.com profile] pocketmouse has a wonderful understanding of how our current Team TARDIS works together, and I especially love the relationship Amy and Rory have here. It is perfectly in-character, delightful, and sexy, despite not having any actual sex in it.

No spoilers for S6.

The last two days sort of got away from me, but you get two recs from me today and two tomorrow to make up for it. Sorry for being a bit derelict in my duties!

Story: Through a Glass Darkly
Author: [livejournal.com profile] wendymr
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 30,957
Author's Summary: It’s only when she’s finally given up looking for a way back that she finds him.
Characters/Pairings: Alt!Nine/Alt!Jack Harkness/Rose Tyler, Jackie Tyler, Pete Tyler
Warnings: None
Recced because:

I can't believe this hasn't been rec'd here before! The extremely prolific and awesome [livejournal.com profile] wendymr regularly comes up with (IMNSHO) some of the most interesting AU premises in the Who fandom, and this one is my personal favorite. The changes that [livejournal.com profile] wendymr makes to the Pete's World!Doctor and Jack's back-stories are fascinating, and the way that she explores what those changes mean for the characters are even more so. And once you're done with this story, there's a bunch of others set in the same 'verse for you to enjoy!

Story: Water Music
Author: [livejournal.com profile] azriona
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 70,113
Author's Summary: The Doctor never expects to meet anyone in a linear fashion. How he meets River Song is slightly more non-lineal than most.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, River Song, Original Companion
Warnings: None
Recced because:

Today's rec is a long one, but well worth the time! It was written before we knew much about River, so it has been rather Moff'd at this point, but [livejournal.com profile] azriona did a fantastic job of extrapolating about both her character and her relationship with the Doctor. It also contains one of the very best OC's I've read in any fandom. Go forth, read, and review!

Story: Raise a Glass
Author: [livejournal.com profile] canaana
Rating: Adult (but not explicit)
Word Count: 1167
Author's Summary: "He was going to kill Amy Pond. Or, well, not really. But he wouldn't mind embarrassing her thoroughly."
Characters/Pairings: Amy/Rory, Eleven/Jack
Warnings: None
Recced because:

This short, delightful fic doesn't spend a lot of time dwelling on the Doctor and Jack's past Issues, but rather skips straight to the shenanigans and hilarity by way of Amy's evil mind. Perfect for a midweek pick-me-up!

Story: Asleep at the Switch
Author: [livejournal.com profile] 51stcenturyfox
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 4076
Author's Summary: "If the Doctor can't straighten us out - I could be a showgirl, Rose."
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor/Jack Harkness/Rose Tyler
Warnings: Explicit sex
Recced because:

This fic, in which Rose and Jack end up bodyswapped and then have oodles of sex, is beautifully written, very funny, and scorching hot. Enjoy!

Well, everyone, this is it for me. I hope you enjoyed my recs! I didn't get to any Classic Who, but as of tonight's story, I have hit all three New Who Doctors and all of the New Who companions, so I feel it was still a fairly even spread. See you next time!

Story: The Witnesses
Author: Aiffe
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 8400
Author's Summary: They can say he existed because they were there, if only in dreams. [Major spoilers for Cold Blood]
Characters/Pairings: Eleven, Amy Pond/Rory Williams
Warnings: None.

Recced because: One of the perks of being in a fandom while a show is airing (something I rarely am privy to) is reading the things people write between episodes. This was written right after "Cold Blood" aired, and shows one way that Eleven could have solved that particular problem. It is sometimes funny, sometimes thoughtful and wise, and sometimes heartbreakingly sad. In other words: it is beautifully, perfectly Doctor Who. Enjoy!

Story: The Alien Irritant Anecdote
Author: Dameruth
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 2368
Author's Summary: There's an alien in Leonard and Sheldon's living room, and he's really annoying. (Crossover with Big Bang Theory.)
Characters/Pairings: Ten; Leonard and Sheldon from Big Bang Theory
Warnings: None.

Recced because: I realized that nothing I've rec'd this week has been under 10k, which might be a bit overwhelming. Here's a hi-larious breather for your Saturday night (what? it's still Saturday in Hawaii!). Put Sheldon Cooper and the Tenth Doctor in a room together and it's six to five and pick 'em which one is going to the bigger know-it-all. And then there's the Penny Factor. In short: Poor Leonard.

Story: An Overpowering Staleness
Author: Yamx
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 19,500
Author's Summary: The Doctor has to use the Chameleon Arch while traveling with Rose and Jack. What will happen, and how will it affect their relationship?
Characters/Pairings: Nine/Jack/Rose
Warnings: None.

Recced because: I will be honest and say right up front that this is the fic [livejournal.com profile] yamx wrote for me when I won her in [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti - but even if it weren't, I'd be reccing it anyway, because it was so far beyond anything I ever hoped for when I gave her the prompt. A Chameleon Arch'd Nine isn't something many writers in the fandom have taken on, because, I think, it's difficult to think about: a Nine without the TARDIS, without his Time Lordliness, would be . . . a mess. [livejournal.com profile] yamx chooses to focus less on why Nine is hiding and more on how it affects him and his traveling companions, and just as in Human Nature/Family of Blood, that proves to be far more compelling.

Story: Noble Pursuits
Author: Quean of Swords
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 52k
Author's Summary: In an alternate universe, alternate Donna Noble is a PA at H.C. Clements. Then, one day, her boss tries to feed her to his alien insect offspring. Lucky for her, she is rescued by Rose Tyler of the Insanely Rich Tylers and a mysterious man who calls himself 'the Doctor'... two people who seem to be a bit more familiar with her than they should be. The Doctor, Rose, and the team at Torchwood Alpha (a.k.a. The Warehouse) have to stop an insidious alien invasion before they've even had a chance to settle into their new lives. Will Donna have to chose between helping them or protecting her ailing grandfather?
Characters/Pairings: Alt!Ten/Rose Tyler, Alt!Donna Noble, Alt!Harriet Jones, Alt!Ianto Jones, Alt!Jackie Tyler, Alt!Martha Jones, Alt!Owen Harper, Alt!Pete Tyler, Alt!Toshiko Sato, Alt!Wilfred Mott
Warnings: None.

Recced because: This was one of this year's [livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang fics, and it. is. marvelous. Among the many things to look forward to: excellent writing, the human Doctor's slow adjustment to his new circumstances, and Donna being, well, Donna. Plus a most entertaining "aliens invading!" plot.

Story: Bubbles
Author: mamfidd82
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 11,400
Author's Summary: Martha Jones and the no good, very bad day. With big dresses, mud, banter, a manual called 'So You Lack Bridezilla Genes!', wellington boots, Cheeky Walking Fishy People, and space snot.
Characters/Pairings: Martha/Tom, with cameos by Francine and Tish
Warnings: None.

Recced because: And now for something completely different! This story is, in short, hysterical. Poor Martha starts out having a bad day when she forgets she agreed to shop for wedding dresses with her mum and sister - and then the Doctor shows up and it's all downhill from there. Need a pick-me-up to get over the middle of the week? This is your fic.

Story: Starting Over
Author: hence_the_name
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 16,400
Author's Summary: The TARDIS lands in Cardiff with a mysteriously ill Doctor on board.
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Ten, Donna, Martha
Warnings: None.

Recced because: Anyone in fandom who knows me for five minutes knows I am the world's biggest sucker for well-done h/c - and this this fic is exactly that, but so much more as well! It's post-Journey's End, so our poor Doctor is in dire need of some comfort. [livejournal.com profile] hence_the_name writes beautifully and has a deft hand with both the characters and their relationships.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but if you read, please drop the author a comment! It's always lovely to have comments roll in unexpectedly months (or years!) after you've posted something.

*waves* Hello, everyone! I'm [livejournal.com profile] sahiya and I'll your reccer this week. I'll probably rec primarily New Who, where my favorite pairings are Jack/Doctor/Rose and Jack/Doctor. But I'm going to try and rec some Classic Who as well.

Today we have one of my very favorite stories ever.

Story: The Lovers
Author: Canaan
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 11k
Author's Summary: Rose wants to see something really different. Jack wants the Doctor to quit shying away from him. Nobody wants what they actually get, or it wouldn't be Doctor Who.
Characters/Pairings: Nine/Jack/Rose
Warnings: Dark and slightly gruesome in parts.

Recced because: This fic fits into [livejournal.com profile] canaana's Major Arcana series, which goes AU as of "Parting of the Ways." But I think this story stands on its own pretty well, and is my favorite of the series for the way it deals with Jack's immortality. It's grim and difficult in parts, but the payoff is worth it, and [livejournal.com profile] canaana's characterization of Jack is, as always, stellar.
