Rec: Scarlet Junction, by rutsky

Story: Scarlet Junction
Author: rutsky
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 2402
Author's Summary: Once upon a time in the far, far future, a little blue woman worked on a tiny space station and waited for the world to end.
Characters/Pairings: Ninth Doctor
Warnings: None

Recced because: I do love this.  I love how rutsky has given a background, a believable background to a small but significant character.  I think it is a sign of a very good writer for her to have achieved this from the short scene which this character was in. Rutsky's writing flows in such a wonderful way, I'd recommend anything by this author.  But for me, this one stands out as not only very well written but intriguing too.

Thank you so much for your very kind words. As it happens, this is one of my own personal favorites, and one I've used to pimp one of my favorite authors, Cordwainer Smith. It was his "future history" and his remarkable style of writing which I had in mind as I wrote about Raffalo, so I urge anyone who liked my little piece to run, not walk, to the nearest collection of Cordwainer Smith short stories!
