You should rec it anyway! Together, we can really push this series. I love "Like Flowers" as well, but I decided to pick one of the post-Doomsday Flowersverse stories since I already had a bunch of fics with Rose on my list. (Yes, I made an advance list too, plus wrote up about half of the recs ahead of time. We are dorks, and that's just fine.) Also, I really love the progression of Ten and Jack's relationship as the series goes on.

Canon science is every bit as cringeworthy as fanfic science if not more so. I try to to think of Doctor Who as a fantasy show that's dressed in sci-fi trappings so I don't get too annoyed.
