rec: SA: Superheroes Anonymous by Pitry

Story: SA: Superheroes Anonymous
Author: Pitry
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 1007
Author's Summary: The Doctor goes to a support group.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker
Warnings: None.

Recced because: I was originally thinking of reccing a different story by this author, but what does anybody need more in the middle of the week than a bit of wonderful crack!fic to lighten things up?

In this, the Tenth Doctor decides to go to a support group for superheroes, and suddenly finds that his angsty confessions are not getting the reaction he expects. It makes me grin every time I read it, right down to the ending. (Which is one of my favourite things, along with Batman’s cynicism about everyone being after his money… “Sorry.” *snerk*).

And while being very much a cracky crossover that lovingly pokes fun at Ten’s inclination to existential angst, it’s also another fic that celebrates in its own way how wonderful this nearly-50-year-old show of ours is.

Aw, poor old Ten tries to get some support but he's picked the wrong people for that. As a comic nerd this made me smile (though I'll stress that Superman, Batman and Spider-Man have a bigger Rouges Gallery than this fic makes out) and loved the gags about companions and her love interests.

I'm almost interested to trying to do the same thing with the Simm Master actually. That or Davros. :)

Yeah.. I admit I'm a bit unkind to the rest of the superheroes. And I was slightly uninformed at the time, too, I must admit... sorry.

;)

That's ok, we can't all own mint copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 or Action Comics #1 and know our Marvel or DC inside out. It was very good regardless.

As I mentioned above I think I'll try this with the Simm Master and a Super Villain each of the heroes you picked if that's ok. Probably Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (616 comicverse), Lex Luthor (Movieverse) and Joker (From Arkham Asylum, given how much I love Mark Hamill's Joker).

Hee! As a highly informed fan of a ridiculous number of superhero comics, I think you did just fine. (I should probably show this to my mom the extreme Spider-Man fan and my two sisters the extreme Batman and Superman fans, in fact... I suspect they'd love it.)

Oooh, oooh, I can't believe I missed this story! Thanks for reccing it, as my life would have definitely been poorer had I never read it. :D

Oh, well put! And the story itself was such a wonderful breath of fresh air from all of the Ten-angst! We should set that to the "Pink Panther" tune. "Ten-angst, Ten-angst, Ten-angst Ten-angst Ten-angst Ten-angst Ten-aaaaaanngst, angstity angsty angst-angst..."
