Recced because: A *lot* of people were angered by the way Donna was written out in Journey's End. As someone whose favorite Doctor-companion team ever is still Ten and Donna, I'm not exactly happy about it myself. Still, this tenderly written vignette does the best job I've ever seen of looking into the Doctor's mind at the end of that episode, why he did what he did, and how he saw the unique relationship he shared with her. I don't cry at fics, but the last line brings me damn close.
