rec: tea in the tardis by platoapproved

Hello everyone, I'm annauq and I'm back for another round of reccing!
To start of my week(s) I have something featuring one of my favourite tardis teams.

Story: Tea in the tardis
Author: platoapproved
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1310
Author's Summary: The Doctor and Charley make C'rizz drink a cup of tea for the first time. Set after Caerdroia.
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (8th), Charley Pollard, C'rizz, the TARDIS
Warnings: None

Recced because: Well-written C'rizz fic, do I need another reason? the Doctor makes tea, Charley has a laugh and C'rizz is confused by it all. It's full of little references to their adventures and feels like part of one. In short: it captures the feel of their era perfectly(is it an era, can I call it an era?): it's cute, hilarious but also a little bit angsty.

Platoapproved writes C'rizz's wonder and confusion wonderfully without making him sound childish or naïve. His unique qualities are subtly explored, and his fears feel very real without completely taking over the scene. I've always thought C'rizz was a fascinating character, and I'm forever sad his personality didn't get explored more before he, euhm.. left.

Apparently a mark of great (big finish) fanfic is when you hear the voices of the characters in your head as you read, and that is certainly the case here. So, go ahead and read!

rec: keeping secrets

Story: Keeping Secrets
Author: platoapproved
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 2550
Author's Summary: A character study of Captain Mike Yates and Sergeant John Benton. The hows and whys and secrets and circumstances of their relationship.
Characters/Pairings: Mike Yates/Sergeant Benton, The Doctor (3rd)
Warnings: Explicit Sex. (I'd also add that it contains references to underage sex.)

Recced because: Taking a quick break from BFA recs because I love this story so much. The best character backstories make the canon itself make more sense - Keeping Secrets does that for not only Mike Yates, but also Benton. The voices are great, the writing is beautiful, and suddenly Invasion of the Dinosaurs makes a little bit more sense.
