Recced because: Visiting a planet where lodgings come in exchange for a story, Martha has some thoughts about playing Scheherazade to the Doctor's king. After John Smith, she has all too much perspective on the limits she'll always have placed on her as the Doctor's companion, and about the Doctor's own limitations. This is about why Martha Jones stayed a bit in love with him anyway, and decided to write her own story.

Recced because: Each chapter is a little ficlet, and they are all simply beautiful. It's a wonderful collection of character studies, covering a goodly chunk of Who canon, and they are all bound together by a playful melancholy that is very moving. It's sprinkled throughout with literary references, quite often with the Doctor making obscure but fantastic quotes. I can easily see most of these as being cut scenes from various episodes (a couple of them are, most of them aren't). Additionally, it's a great view of the Doctor's main personality, outside of the quirks of regeneration.

Story: Seven Minutes in Heaven
Author: Kalima
Rating: Adult
Author's summary: "My dear Doctor, that itch you can't scratch? It's not all in your head."
Characters: The Doctor (10th)/Rose Tyler, Jackie Tyler, Jack Harkness
Warnings: Explicit sex
Word Count: 27,389

Recced because: Ten is living as the human John Smith, and it has nothing to do with the Family of Blood. Rose, Jackie, and Jack try to figure out what happened and get Ten to remember who he is, and shenanigans ensue. Kalima gets right into Ten's ADHD point of view, slips in a few nods to the old-school series, and keeps the adventure rolling along while staying brutally honest about the emotional fallout of Rose finally getting her man.
