Story: Seven Minutes in Heaven
Author: Kalima
Rating: Adult
Author's summary: "My dear Doctor, that itch you can't scratch? It's not all in your head."
Characters: The Doctor (10th)/Rose Tyler, Jackie Tyler, Jack Harkness
Warnings: Explicit sex
Word Count: 27,389

Recced because: Ten is living as the human John Smith, and it has nothing to do with the Family of Blood. Rose, Jackie, and Jack try to figure out what happened and get Ten to remember who he is, and shenanigans ensue. Kalima gets right into Ten's ADHD point of view, slips in a few nods to the old-school series, and keeps the adventure rolling along while staying brutally honest about the emotional fallout of Rose finally getting her man.

Story: Night Ice
Author: Significant Owl
Rating: All Ages
Author's summary: Watch how you go. Mind the gap. [Ten, Martha, post-Family of Blood]
Characters: Ten/Martha
Warnings: None
Word Count: 5,259

Recced because: Visiting a planet where lodgings come in exchange for a story, Martha has some thoughts about playing Scheherazade to the Doctor's king. After John Smith, she has all too much perspective on the limits she'll always have placed on her as the Doctor's companion, and about the Doctor's own limitations. This is about why Martha Jones stayed a bit in love with him anyway, and decided to write her own story.

Story: Sic Semper Tyrannis
Author: Meredith
Rating: All Ages
Author's summary: Where was Harriet Jones, in the Year that Never Happened? "Trying to incite a rebellion, of course; it's the only sensible thing to do under the circumstances."
Characters/Pairings: Harriet Jones, The Doctor (10th), The Master (Simm)
Warnings: none
Word Count: 3327

Recced because: I never felt the Doctor did right by Harriet Jones in "The Christmas Invasion", and no story states the reasons why more articulately than this one. This is former PM Jones, finally stating her case and getting a bit of her own back, both in the Year That Never Was and after the reset. As Meredith writes her, it's easy to believe that this woman was supposed to lead Britain's Golden Age.

Story: Expectation and Maximization
Author: eve11
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 2979
Author's Summary: "Rose Tyler, you've faced clockwork droids, Slitheen and Cybermen, not to mention five different types of zombies and a megalomaniacal nightmare better known as the Emperor of the Daleks, and you're telling me you're afraid of some maths?"
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (10th), Rose Tyler
Warnings: None. Unless you fear math.

Recced because: I love the few stories that actually try to get inside the Doctor's understanding of time and probabilities, and this one finds a wonderful visual metaphor for how he always seemingly knows what to do and when.

Story: Harvest
Author: sensiblecat
Rating: All Ages
Author's summary: It's 1969, money is tight and the Doctor isn't getting his five a day (Portions of fruit and veg, that is). But Martha, and the Italian family upstairs, may have the perfect solution.

A tale of Ten, Martha and a lot of zucchini (or courgettes, as they are known in Europe)
Characters/Pairings: Martha Jones, The Doctor (10th)
Warnings: None
Word Count: 3,113

Recced because: This is the first "1969" fic I read, sinking into the details of the months that Martha and the Doctor spent waiting for the events of "Blink" to come together and bring the TARDIS back to them. It has a perfect Martha voice- sensible and smart and still a bit starry-eyed about the Doctor, as together they embrace the Earth-bound flip-side of the TARDIS lifestyle- helping people and solving the small-scale problems that come with living on a shopgirl's income in London 1969.

Story: The Spy Who Came In With A Cold
Author: bigbadwolf
Rating: All Ages
Author's summary: Written to fall after 'World War III', hopefully this piece not only marries with that stage of RTD's characterisations, but does not feel out of place as a piece of dark satire in it's own right...
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (9th), Rose Tyler
Warnings: None
Word Count: 25,285

Recced because: This is a silly, rollicking adventure story set on a planet a bit overly obsessed with sanitation, featuring an alien stripper, a car that runs on road rage, and some very bad doctors. What more do you need?

Story: Here There Be
Author: Cryptile
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 32,036
Author's Summary: "Rose Tyler battles Prehistoric Beasts, Torquay housewives and her new therapist."
Characters/Pairings: Rose Tyler, Mickey Smith, Pete Tyler, Other Character(s)
Warnings: None

Recced because: There are dinosaurs. Well, there's that, and there's also a post-"Doomsday" Rose, working for the ramshackle alternate Torchwood with Mickey and Jake, babysitting her younger sister, and attending therapy forced on her by her employer. This is the best Cyber!verse story I've read, where moving on from the Doctor is neither fast nor easy, but it happens.

Also, there are dinosaurs. That's the really important bit.
