Recced because: Another unusual pairing – so unusual, in fact, that this is one of only two Ten/Yvonne stories I'm aware of. Choosing between the two of them was quite difficult, but this one won out for its portrayal of the calculating and manipulative Yvonne and the way she worms her way into the Doctor's life. The Doctor, held prisoner by Torchwood, reluctantly begins to help his captors, while Yvonne's obsession with all things Doctor begins to evolve into something she never expected. It's not a cheerful story, but it will make you wish the two characters had had more than an episode and a half together.

Recced because: Bambera fic! One of my favourite minor characters – the fact she’s the Brigadier of UNIT probably helps – she gets a great ‘five things’ treatment here. Each of the possibilities presented – from scarily 1950s-style domestic motherhood, to space captain, to investigative journalist partner to Sarah Jane, to TARDIS traveller – all have a grain of truth, and while some, such as the first one, are not a fate I would wish on Bambera in a million years, it’s still very well done, and you can see how if she were in that role, she would conform to it as thoroughly and positively as she could. On the whole, this is a clever, thoughtful, and moving fic.

Recced because: I love this author. Anything she writes I will read, and through her I've developed a deep love for Romana. This story has all the angst and humour and friendship you expect from the Tenth Doctor interacting with a Romana from his past, and all in just the right amounts. Reading through the story, you definitely get the feeling that these are two old friends who know each other still, despite all the time and wars that separate them. The characterizations are great, and the storytelling is fantastic.

Then there's my favourite scene with Donna and Romana, and it just doesn't get any better than that!
