Story: Go Home
Author: Penny
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 909
Author's Summary: Jamie wants to go home. The Doctor misunderstands. Confusion ensues.
Characters/Pairings: Jamie, Second Doctor
Warnings: None.

Recced because: This was an adorable little piece with a misunderstanding that brings about a sweet exchange between the Doctor and Jamie, as well as a bit of nice introspection on Jamie's part. The Second Doctor is perfectly in character too, and his disappointment in thinking Jamie is leaving him is enduring. Very enjoyable one-shot on these two characters.

Story: Queens
Author: Penny
Rating: A
Word Count: 4632
Author's Summary: "Honestly, Charley, I leave you alone for one afternoon and you get arrested for grand larceny!" Charley was just minding her own business in the lobby of the Hotel Delilah when a perfect stranger took her by the arm and declared that they were married. Now she's fallen in with a jewel thief and things are getting very silly indeed.
Characters/Pairings: Charley Pollard/Clara Oswald, Eighth Doctor
Warnings: None.

Recced because: It has Clara, Charley, fake relationships, and a jewel heist and it’s every bit as much fun as that sounds. Do I really need to say more? Don’t walk, run; it's a joy…

Author's Summary: Her eyes were so big and bright, and he almost never saw her this happy – he couldn’t say no, not when Victoria made that face. Jamie, Victoria, a Ferris Wheel and an embarrassing fear of heights. (Jamie/Victoria Fluff)
Characters/Pairings:  The Doctor (2nd),  Jamie McCrimmon/Victoria Waterfield
Warnings: None

Recced because: Since the last rec was pretty sad, this one is pure cute fluff.  The mannerisms and dialogue fit them well and it's overall a fun read.

Story: The Dread Pirate Missy
Author: Penny
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 5811
Author's Summary: “It’s all a bit Dread Pirate Roberts, isn’t it? ‘Good-night, Osgood. Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you when the loop ends’.” Osgood knew she ought to be more concerned at finding herself aboard Missy's TARDIS. Again. And again. And again. In which things get a bit Groundhog Day, Osgood eats a lot of butterscotch, and Missy learns a valuable lesson about friendship.
Characters/Pairings: Missy/Osgood (sort of)
Warnings: None.

Recced because: This is pretty much a murderous version of Groundhog Day, as the author's summary suggests. It's at times hilarious, heartwarming, and disturbing. Written before there was any suggestion of Osgood returning, this fic single-handedly convinced me that this was a TARDIS team that really ought to have happened. (It could still happen, in fact. Your move, Steven Moffat.) The characters' voices are distinct and well-written, and their relationship develops from iteration to iteration to one of almost, maybe if you squint hard enough, mutual respect.

Title: In the Kirkyard
Author: Penny
Rating: all ages
Word Count: 2034
Characters: Polly, Ben, Jamie
Author's summary: He flew to the moon and back. He liked the Beatles. He was one of the bravest people I ever knew. I miss him. On holiday in Inverness, Polly stumbles upon Jamie's grave.
Warnings: none except massive feels

Recced because: It's one of the sadder stories I'll probably ever rec, but it rings true all the same. It's heartbreaking to realize that companions who come from different times may never see each other again once they leave the Doctor- one may well have died before the other was even born, and how do we humans make peace with a paradox like that? This glimpse of Polly being confronted with the fact that she'll never see Jamie again makes your heart ache for her, but Polly has the advantage of having someone else around who understands. The hope that maybe Polly & Ben can help each other through gives a small uplifting note to this meditative, elegiac, beautifully written piece. You'll need to get out a box of tissues for this one, but trust me, it's worth it.

Story: Six Things Zoe Learned From Jamie
Author: Penny
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 8042
Author's Summary: Jamie was giving her that look which said 'You poor soul, is this not screamingly obvious' and being on the receiving end of it for a change was giving her a nasty sinking feeling in her stomach. Things Jamie taught Zoe, or how Zoe learned that she doesn't always have to know everything.
Characters/Pairings: Zoe Heriot, Jamie McCrimmon, Second Doctor
Warnings: Possible spoilers for The War Games.

Recced because: It does what it says on the tin, basically, and very well. Despite all her advantages over Jamie, there are some things that Zoe can learn from him, and this is a thoughtful, engaging and sometimes humorous ramble through some of those – and also a great look at their friendship. It’s a lovely character piece, with a true feel for Jamie, Zoe, the Doctor and this particular era, something that is always a treat to read.

Title: I've been doing bad things
Author: Penny
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 2507
Author's Summary: "This is Doctor Zoe Heriot, senior technician aboard station seven. Making my final report. Experiment Zeta is a failure." Zoe's in the middle of sacrificing herself to save the earth from a hoard of the undead when she's rescued by a mysterious blonde girl with a homemade energy-weapon. Or, Zoe and Jenny team up to fight zombies.
Characters/Pairings: Zoe Heriot, Jenny, Zoe/Jenny
Warnings: None

Recc'ed Because: Ummm... it's Zoe and Jenny fighting zombies? Do you need more? I love the character voices and the humor and descriptions and the frenetic pace and plot, and the fact that the author gives an entirely earnest and believable (within the DW universe) take on the base-under-siege trope with "artificially reanimated corpses". It's fun and hilarious and action-packed and as sweet as sweet can be when your first date is being rescued from a zombie horde.
