Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nonelvis for letting me rec this week. It's been a blast! Feel free to drop by my LJ, Teaspoon or AO3 accounts for more recs or to check out my own Who!fic.

Now for my final rec:

Story: In Motion
Author: pocketmouse
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 6368
Author's Summary: Amy and Rory settle into themselves, and life on the TARDIS. The Doctor is the Doctor.
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (11th), Amy Pond, Rory Williams (Amy/Rory, Doctor/Amy/Rory)

Recced because: This is some gorgeous and introspective not-quite-OT3 that gets the voices of the characters just right. [livejournal.com profile] pocketmouse has structured this story so perfectly, with unconnected scenes set within a larger story--told out of order--showing the emotional arc of Amy, Rory, and the Doctor as they grow closer to each other individually and as a whole. Just lovely.

Story:The Bees, The Bees (The Five Times Donna Met the Doctor Without Realising It Remix)
Author:livii
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1777
Author's Summary: How d'you find the Doctor? Just look for trouble, and he'll turn up. [Remix of A Different Man by aralias]
Characters/Pairings: Donna Noble, Ace McShane, the Doctor (2nd, 5th, 8th, & 9th)

Recced because: One of my favourite things is watching Donna Noble be magnificent with no need for help or encouragement from anyone else, and this fic has that in spades. On top of that, this fic also sets up the ‘bees are disappearing’ theme from Series 4 beautifully and hilariously. I particularly enjoyed the scene between Nine and Donna--what I wouldn’t give to have seen them travel together if it was like this!

Oh, crap. The one I just posted had already been recced here before. Here, have a new one:

Story: A TARDIS of One’s Own
Author: nostalgia
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1252
Author's Summary: He's trying to cope with being a she now.
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Warnings: none

Recced because: There’s nothing I love so much as stories in which the Doctor has regenerated into a woman and then must sort out what, if any, difference it makes. The cameos of famous women in history and their advice to the Doctor are my favourite parts of this.

Story: Sea of Love
Author: rickmaniac101
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 2306
Author's Summary: Jo Grant's daughter is getting married and there's an unexpected guest at the wedding.
Characters/Pairings: Jo Grant, the Doctor (10th), Cliff Jones
Warnings: none

Recced because: This fic effectively got jossed by the Sarah Jane Adventures Death of the Doctor episode, but I somehow only appreciate it more for it. I think it does a lot of what that episode does so well, in giving us and Jo closure, but portrays her as slightly less dotty and just as awesome. This is a lovely, sweet short fic, well worth reading even if you don’t know much about Jo Grant, as it is also commentary about all of the Doctor’s former companions and how they move on.

Story: Old Friends Make the Worst Enemies
Author: sahiya
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 4217
Author's Summary: Giles is having nightmares. But he needn't fear they might come true, because they already have.
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (10th), Martha Jones, Rupert Giles (Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover)
Warnings: none

Recced because: I love the way that [livejournal.com profile] sahiya has combined these two worlds, and how we see the effects of the Year that Never Was on the Buffyverse. Furthermore, it was a stroke of genius to have it be Giles that reaches out to the Doctor given his background of, um, old friends hell-bent on destroying the world. I love what these two characters bring out in each other.

Story: Sweetpeas
Author: Raven
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1117
Author's Summary: Amy's in the bath, Rory's in the wardrobe, the Doctor is nowhere in particular.
Characters/Pairings: Rory, the Doctor (11th)
Warnings: none

Recced because: Reccing this is unrepentant cheating as [livejournal.com profile] loneraven wrote this in response to a request of mine for conversation between the Doctor and Rory that was sort of reverse-Bechdel test in that it was not about Amy. This fic does that and more. It is (appropriately) sweet and quiet, and it really starts to get at what makes Rory interesting and awesome in his own right, not just as Amy’s baggage. It’s lovely to watch the Doctor begin to figure it out as we do too.

Hi everyone! Long-time reader, first time reccer. I’ll be reccing a hodge-podge of fics featuring different eras and Doctors. I have a soft-spot for well-done crossovers as well as anything funny and/or epic, and I especially love fics that feature women being awesome. You can find my non-Teaspoon-specific Who recs here. Now on to the first rec:

Story: The Vampires of Venezuela
Author: Gehyahi
Rating: teen
Word Count: 8928
Author's Summary: The vampires of Venice did not die. Rosanna Calvierri was too determined to allow the race of Saturnynians--now reduced to herself and her children--to perish simply because of the Doctor. Written for Femgenficathon.
Characters/Pairings: Rosanna Calvierri, the Doctor (5th & 11th)
Warnings: Minor character death

Recced because: This is an absolutely gorgeous and rich reinterpretation of, and sequel to the Vampires of Venice. Gehyahi delves deeply into the motivations of Rosanna and finds her more sympathetic, if no less cruel or hard than we see her in that episode. This is a story of women, power, and family, and as far as I’m concerned, it’s canon.
