Story: The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith: Extended Ending
Author: Weimlady
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 4469
Author's Summary: The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith was overrunning badly, so they had to cut a great deal of material from the end. Here's what you missed. It starts just where the televised version ends.
Characters/Pairings: Sarah Jane Smith, Tenth Doctor, Luke Smith, Rani Chandra, Clyde Langer

Recced because: Like the summary says, this picks up where TWoSJS ends and assumes that the Doctor returns to take Sarah Jane and the kids on one last trip - a trip that includes dinosaurs, water fights, and, at long last, the elusive Florana. It's a fairly fluffy piece on the surface, though very much in character - Luke, Clyde, and Rani are represented especially well, amazed and in awe of what they're experiencing but still very much kids at heart. It's the ending that really packs a punch, though, when the adventure ends and both Sarah and the Doctor are forced to return to a reality that neither of them are quite prepared to deal with. Beautifully understated and bittersweet, the final scene does a great job of showing how they've grown both separately and together.

I'm [livejournal.com profile] ffutures (Marcus Rowland on Teaspoon), and I'll be reccing this week. No special themes this time; just a mixture of straight whofic and crossovers, different eras, etc. I should maybe mention that I don't consider Who/Torchwood/SJA to be separate universes, so don't count stories that involve more than one of them as crossovers.

Story: Lost in the Vortex

Author's Summary: Sarah Jane has an unexpected visitor in the attic. Set after Death of the Doctor and before Robot.

Recced because: I'm not often keen on missing scenes, but this one is an interesting idea that makes sense, and doesn't mess up canon.

Story: Silver and Gold
Author: Weimlady
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 38,230
Author's Summary: Post Runaway Bride/pre-Smith & Jones/pre-Sarah Jane Adventures story. The Tenth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith meet again a few months after School Reunion. Special guest appearance of another old friend from Classic days.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith, Torchwood
Warnings: None

Recced because: It's long with long chapters and that allows you to get into the story. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. The relationship between the Tenth Doctor and Sarah is very interesting, as are the glimpses into her life. Weimlady writes a Doctor with slightly alien ways - more so than we see on TV sometimes, but it's never too far to make him out of character. It all makes sense with what we know about the Doctor.

The other stories Weimlady has written follow on from this one and they're all long enough to really get into another world, and show fantastic world building and interesting, realistic relationships between the characters in them.
