Author's Summary: Intern doctor Martha Jones doesn't expect the appearance of heiress Rose Tyler in her ER to turn her life upside-down, but after Rose starts appearing in Martha's dreams, Martha begins to realize that they're both in danger . . .
Characters/Pairings: Martha Jones, Rose Tyler
Warnings: N/A

Recced because: There are not enough Martha and Rose stories out there, and this is one I keep coming back to. Rose in her new universe becomes the patient of intern Martha Jones, and due to some wacky Torchwood hijinks, Martha ends up in Rose's dreams. Martha without the Doctor is still the same as Martha *with* the Doctor, if a little less travelled. She's still smart and clever and quick on her feet, and doesn't let little things like comas or impossible aliens get in her way. And Rose *after* the Doctor is exactly what I would expect to see - she's working at Torchwood and trying to build a life for herself.

Author's Summary: Nirrti's experiments into building a super-host have lead her to a certain Time Lord. SG-1 and the Doctor stop her from creating a host capable of command over time and space. (Stargate Crossover)
Characters/Pairings: Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler, SG-1, Nirrti
Warnings: N/A

Recced because: This entire story takes place in those 18 seconds in Rose that the Doctor is gone, leaving Rose in the alley with Mickey. This is the story of that missing time - which of course is an adventure - and why he came back. The Doctor is still traumatised after the War, but soldiering on like he always does, though it seems that this blonde child is sticking in his thoughts more than she should. Meanwhile, the Goa'uld Nirrti has snagged herself some Time Lord DNA which she plans to use to create an ultra-super-duper new host, which the Doctor - and SG-1 - loudly protest.

This is a great view of the Doctor in his element, saving the world while trying to figure out the mind of a nineteen year old human female as the world explodes around him. Literally. However, my favourite parts in this entire story are the Doctor and Jack O'Neill interactions; communicating one soldier to another.

Author's Summary: An accident on the planet Praxis II causes the Doctor to be arrested, and Rose has to appear in an alien court to plead his case.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Rose Tyler
Warnings: N/A

Recced because: I'm a huge fan of 'the Companion saves the Doctor' fics, and this one is the first - and one of the best - I've read, so far. This is Rose, left stranded on a strange planet when the Doctor is arrested, and how she deals with it all. She's smart and clever and resourceful. I especially love the entire courtroom scene. The story is wonderfully written, and Rose's character coming shining through.

Author's Summary: An unexpected event pulls Rose and Jack away from the Doctor, throwing them into separate timestreams.
Characters/Pairings: Jack (+ Jack + Jack), Ninth Doctor, Tenth Doctor, Rose, Ianto
Warnings: N/A

Recced because: This story is where Jack's timeline goes to get drunk. Seriously. You get three different versions of Jack, one before the Doctor and Rose, one with the Doctor and Rose, and the one from after. I found it really interesting how different Jack was at these three different times in his life, and yet he was still the same in all the ways that count. He might be a little more jaded and sad, but he's still Jack in all the ways we love.
The story itself seems to be one giant paradox in the making, but somehow they manage to avoid that.

Author's Summary: To save her Doctor's future, Rose has to go back in time and meet all previous incarnations of the Timelord. There'll be danger, humour, romance and adventure!
Characters/Pairings: Rose/Doctor, All 10 Doctors
Warnings: N/A

Recced because: This is the first story in a series, but it's also my favourite. This is a Rose story where we see her strength and courage and conviction, and her stubborn drive to save the Doctor and the universe as she travels through the Doctor's life on her own. Yet this is also a Rose/Doctor story, where we see Rose meet her feelings head on where the Ninth and Tenth Doctors are concerned. I especially like this story because each meeting with each incarnation is unique yet still so similar - in almost every instance they end up running for their lives or being in mortal peril in some way. It's really great fun to read, and I think the author is completely right when they said 'There'll be danger, humour, romance and adventure!'.

Author's Summary: A rift in time and space leaves Romana stranded in the wrong timeline, and with a rather difficult Doctor...
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Romana II, Donna & cameos by K-9 and the Fourth Doctor
Warnings: N/A

Recced because: I love this author. Anything she writes I will read, and through her I've developed a deep love for Romana. This story has all the angst and humour and friendship you expect from the Tenth Doctor interacting with a Romana from his past, and all in just the right amounts. Reading through the story, you definitely get the feeling that these are two old friends who know each other still, despite all the time and wars that separate them. The characterizations are great, and the storytelling is fantastic.

Then there's my favourite scene with Donna and Romana, and it just doesn't get any better than that!

Story: Never Doing That Again
Author: Becky_H
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 4895
Author's Summary: Jack should really be more careful about who --and what-- he crawls into bed with.
Characters/Pairings: Jack, Ninth Doctor, Rose
Warnings: Sorta-not-really mpreg. No really, it's not.

Recced because: Remember that line in the very first scene of the first Torchwood episode where Jack says 'At least I won't get pregnant - never doing that again. Well, this is that story. Never fear, it's not *really* an mpreg. It's not one of those 'fifty first century men have uterus' stories - I like to think of it as a PSA for interspecies sexual relations.
This should be canon for Jack - it would explain so much. It features Nine and Rose, and Jack in a situation that is just. Not. Right. Plus gratuitous use of the term "alien parasite". It's also the funniest story I have ever read. The characters are beautifully written and the description of everything is short and sweet but full of imagery.
