My last rec of the week - thanks for putting up for me for seven whole days, and I hope you enjoyed some of the fics I and the other reccers picked up for you.

Thanks to my fellow reccers, and good luck to the next set!

Story: Killer
Author: Black Alya Wolf
Rating: All ages
Author's summary: What if he had chosen to be a killer? The universe's very own assassin, the Doctor, sacrificing one tiny little planet for billions of others. And then Bad Wolf came, a mere second later. The coward's gone, and now all that stands is the Oncoming Storm. Set during Parting of the Ways.
Characters/Pairings: Rose Tyler, The Ninth Doctor, The Tenth Doctor, Jack Harkness, the TARDIS
Warnings: None.
Word Count: 5391

Recced because: Thought I'd go out with a bang - the works; an AUish Parting of the Ways, where the Doctor did set off the Delta Wave. Wonderful descriptions, and much in need of a sequel, that's for sure!
A must-read for any fan of the Bad Wolf arc, and any of those who think the TARDIS is most definitely much more than a simple blue box. This fic proves that one beyond doubt.

And the second customary Doctor/Rose rec in honour of tonight's viewing. ^^

Story: Little By LIttle, One Travels Far
Author: rachelbeann
Rating: All ages
Author's summary: Rose tries to orient herself. Spoilers for Turn Left.
Characters/Pairings: Rose Tyler, The Tenth Doctor
Warnings: None - but, if you haven't seen it yet (and I'm going to put it in caps just to be on the safe side:) SPOILERS FOR TURN LEFT - IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT/DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED, BE WARNED. Alright, big red-lights-flashing warning section over now. Moving on...
Word Count: 1151

Recced because: This story is new on the scene, only written a few days ago - I should know, I beta'd it. And the minute I read it, I fell in love with it just as much as I fell in love with the ep 'Turn Left'. Rachelbeann manages to capture the feelings of Rose as - in one of many possibilites floating around fandom at the mo - she jumps between timelines trying to track down the Doctor, but (typically) she never seems to get the right time.

If I could freeze Season 4 right now, this is what I would want to see.

So if you feel like a good ol' Ten/Rose reunion kick before tonight's ep, click on the link above, and enjoy. Oh, and don't forget to review - it'll cheer rachelbeann up while she waits for the ep to download. ^.~

Sorry for the delayed recs again - still ill & too hyper about tonight to think much, so I'm doing two at once again. >.< But still - read, enjoy, review. ^^

Story: The Wolf and the Phoenix
Author: Dune
Rating: All ages
Author's summary: The beginning of a beautiful friendship...
Characters/Pairings: Jack Harkness, The TARDIS on his desk, The (actual) TARDIS, The Tenth Doctor
Warnings: None
Word Count: 5029

Recced because: This is the story of how that little piece of coral/TARDIS got on to the desk of one Jack Harkness. And where it (and he) went from there.
I really really really wish this story were canon. Yes, I know I've said that about nearly every story I've recced this week, but with this one I can't help but repeat myself. ^.~ Dune's painted a wonderful picture of how the TARDIS came to be with Jack, and how they manage to build a relationship nearly as close as the Doctor and his TARDIS. Without spoiling what happens, it has a bittersweet but hopeful ending (the kind I'm fond of, though goodness knows why xD) for all parties involved.

A good read if you're feeling in a contemplative mood and want to distract yourself from the squee of this evening. ^^ But unfortunately, my next rec may well undo that.

... and here's today's fic of choice from the_magpye.

Story: Valentine's Day, This year
Author: koshiroryuu
Rating: All ages
Author's summary: How do you hold a memorial for people who don't even remember they died?
Characters/Pairings: Martha Jones
Warnings: None, except for a tissue warning for the soft-hearted. Like me. ^^
Word Count: 2441

Recced because: When I first read this story, on Valentine's Day of last year, I cried. Unashamedly. And I freely admit it too, because this is such a beautiful, wonderful, heart-wrenching piece of writing that I feel like I can admit it without looking totally stupid.

This story looks at a moment in the life of Martha Jones post-LotTL that could well have happened, on Valentine's Day the second time it happened. Or as koshiroryuu puts it: 'Martha Jones is one of the very few people who remembers the first time this year happened, the first time the world had a Valentine's Day this year.'

I hold this fic wholly responsible for making me like Martha more than I did originally. Hands up, I didn't really like her that much when she first arrived on the scene, but now I put that down to being devastated over the S2 finale. This fic put Martha right up with Rose and Donna and Sarah-Jane and all the others, where she deserves to be. I can't even begin to describe the good points about it, because I can't distinguish the good from the even better and the excellent.

So, all I can say to anyone reading this is: go and click on the link-title at the top. Read it. Review it. And enjoy it. Now.

Didn't do a rec yesterday because I felt so ill I went straight to sleep - am now still ill, but coherent enough to catch up with the reccing. ^^

Story: The Howling
Author: Fayth
Rating: All ages
Author's summary: There's something of the wolf about her.
Characters/Pairings: Rose, The TARDIS, featuring Tenth Doctor.
Warnings: None
Word Count: 3314

Recced because: Many of those on my flist and anyone who happens to have read any of my fic should know that I'm a sucker for the Bad Wolf arc. ^^ This fic, when I read it, jumped straight away on to my Favourites list. Fayth takes a number of the more wolf-ish moments in S2 and makes straight line comparisons to the behaviour of wolves in the real world, and still manages to make it a beautiful story with detailed description, moments of fluff, and a wonderfully hopeful ending. Enjoy!

Story: A Thousand Languages
Author: Mad Lori
Rating: All ages
Author's summary: Rose thought she knew how it would be when it happened, but things are rarely as we imagine them.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Rose. Ten/Rose
Warnings: None
Word Count: 3301

Recced because: Moving on from yesterdays longish fic, I chose a shorter, more contemplative one for today - since after all, it is Tuesday, and from my experience not many people like Tuesdays. I know I don't. But anyway - this fic is a gem. It is the definition of Ten and Rose, crystallized in just over 3000 words. It is so plausible, you could see it happening. This fic follows the Doctor and Rose through a series of snapshots in their relationship - important times, and all of them beautiful written. There's the customary dose of angst in the middle, but without revealing too much it does show just how much that hapless two love each other in a bittersweet kind of way.
And the last line - well, it just sums everything up really, doesn't it.
As with yesterday, a must for any Ten/Rose shippers out there. And yes, I promise I'll rec something that isn't Ten/Rose sometime this week. Really, I will. ^^
Enjoy!

Hello hello hello! Seems I'm one of the reccers this week, so I'm going to be engulfing you in Doctor/Rose, Bad Wolf fics, and maybe some old school too.

There we go. ^^
I'll start out with one of my personal favourites:

Story: Salva Nos
Author: aenaria
Rating: All ages
Author's summary: It isn't about how he always saves her, or how she always saves him. It's about how they save each other.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Rose, OC. Ten/Rose
Warnings: None
Word Count: 10,259

Recced because: Yes, it's kid!fic. And yes, I know many out there despise kid!fic. But this specific piece of kid!fic is just so beautiful you could imagine it were real. It has a believable Rose, a believable setting, and a believable kid. Charlie is just brilliant. If you need a pick-me-up after a long day, or just a dose of happy reunion!fluff with a dash of angst and h/c, this is definitely one for you. There is also a sequel/prequel called 'Five Nights' which acts as another dose of goodness.

Plus, 'Salva Nos' is set in Italy. What could be bad about a fic with Italy in it? I mean, come on! ^^
