Story: Revisions Which A Minute Will Reverse
Author: sparrowmarrow with thirty2flavors
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 20,363
Author's Summary: From a dingy hotel in Norway, the Doctor and Rose realise something has gone wrong. A timey-wimey interpretation of Turn Left.
Characters/Pairings: Metacrisis Tenth Doctor/Rose Tyler, Donna Noble
Warnings: None.

Recced because: By now, some of you may have figured out that I'm a fan of complicated time travel plot devices. This is another example, done spectacularly well. In a sense, this is a fix-it fic for Journey's End but it changes so little from the established events that I hesitate to call it that. For anyone who had issues with the predicament that the Doctor left Rose and his half-human duplicate to deal with, this answers some of those concerns nicely while re-visiting and reframing the events of Turn Left. Beautiful and painful.

Story: This Bird Has Flown
Author: Helluin
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 6723
Author's Summary: Space tourists, scientists, old friends: the Doctor has not had a rapport with a companion like this since Romana left. (A series of "day in the life" vignettes between Five and Nyssa that roughly parallel their later Big Finish adventures.)
Characters/Pairings: Fifth Doctor/Nyssa of Traken
Warnings: No standard warnings. Mention of (but no actual, on or off-screen) sexual assault.

Recced because: I'm sure many of you are familiar with the rare experience of reading a fic featuring your favorite pairing that just hits all the right notes – their voices are clear and feel true to character, the tone is spot-on, and the inevitable pay-off is exactly how you yourself would've written it, if only you'd known how. That's how I feel about this story. It's more a collection of scenes than one cohesive plot arc, but these brief moments paint a beautiful picture of the Doctor and Nyssa's maturing relationship. The author is particularly adept when it comes to describing locations and has an eye for narrative symmetry that makes the conclusion especially poignant. As a bit of a space-geek, I found the asteroid encounter scene in the middle to be breathtaking. (And yes, there really is such an asteroid in our solar system!)

Familiarity with the Doctor and Nyssa's Big Finish adventures will help, but is not required in order to enjoy this story.

Author's Summary: The Time War fic you never knew you wanted...
Characters/Pairings: Eighth Doctor, War Doctor, Ninth Doctor, Romana
Warnings: None.

Recced because: I'm not sure I can properly describe this fic. It's exactly what it says it is, the Time War fic you didn't know you needed. It is gorgeous and painful and vast in scope in a way that a conflict with as grandiose name as 'the Last Great Time War' should be. As much as I enjoyed reading Engines of War and am looking forward to the upcoming Big Finish audios, this is what I think of when I imagine the Time War.

Story: Together in the Altogether
Author: ABadPlanWellExecuted
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 4721
Author's Summary: What's a little nudity between friends?
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor/Rose Tyler
Warnings: None.

Recced because: The whole “unexpected nudity reveals hidden amorous / romantic feelings” scenario is a old trope in fan fiction, I know - I've even used it myself - but this is a particularly fun example. It's silly, it's cute, it's hilariously disgusting. The dialogue is pretty brilliant, especially the Doctor's. Read it for the slug prison, if nothing else.

Story: The Dread Pirate Missy
Author: Penny
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 5811
Author's Summary: “It’s all a bit Dread Pirate Roberts, isn’t it? ‘Good-night, Osgood. Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you when the loop ends’.” Osgood knew she ought to be more concerned at finding herself aboard Missy's TARDIS. Again. And again. And again. In which things get a bit Groundhog Day, Osgood eats a lot of butterscotch, and Missy learns a valuable lesson about friendship.
Characters/Pairings: Missy/Osgood (sort of)
Warnings: None.

Recced because: This is pretty much a murderous version of Groundhog Day, as the author's summary suggests. It's at times hilarious, heartwarming, and disturbing. Written before there was any suggestion of Osgood returning, this fic single-handedly convinced me that this was a TARDIS team that really ought to have happened. (It could still happen, in fact. Your move, Steven Moffat.) The characters' voices are distinct and well-written, and their relationship develops from iteration to iteration to one of almost, maybe if you squint hard enough, mutual respect.

Story: Type 40
Author: dbskyler
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 651
Author's Summary: The latest release in TT Capsule technology: the Type 40!
Characters/Pairings: The TARDIS
Warnings: None.

Recced because: It's fun! A short satirical advertisement for the Doctor's beloved Type 40 model. Read it because your day can never have too much laughter or too many inexplicable roundels in it.

Hello Calufraxers! I'm Conundrum, your fan fiction guide for the next two weeks. You can find me lurking on Teaspoon as SpaceTimeConundrum. I've got quite a selection lined up for you all, a solid mix (I hope) of Classic and New Who ranging from the dark to comic, often in the same story. Now, let's start things off with a bang, shall we?

Story: Fission
Author: PencilGuardian
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 39,791
Author's Summary: The Doctor is accidentally cut in half whilst trying to stop the Master.
Characters/Pairings: Fifth Doctor/Nyssa of Traken, Tegan Jovanka, the Master
Warnings: No standard warnings. Some body horror.

Recced because: This may very well be my favorite fic on Teaspoon. What that says about me, I'll let you all be the judge once you've followed my advice and read this.

The story is in turns funny, bittersweet, and more than a little bit demented. Aside from a few plot details that absolutely would not sneak past the BBC censors, this is a near-perfect homage to the Classic Who serials of the 1980s. Much like in the source material it frequently references, the Fifth Doctor is forced to endure a succession of horrifying traumas along the way. Poor Doctor. Luckily Nyssa and Tegan are there to save the day. It's excellently plotted and every character is given an active role in the story, even a few genre-savvy minions. I especially liked how it deals with the consequences of the Master's body snatching in The Keeper of Traken in a unique way.

I love this fic to pieces.
