The final rec of my week! This has been a wonderful trip down the memory lane of favorite fics. More importantly, thank you to everyone who read the fics and commented to the authors. Knowing that someone enjoys what you're doing is the most fantastic compliment an author can receive.

Author's Summary: A young woman contemplates suicide by power steering fluid. "'Course you could just eat the gun like Cobain-- wait, what year is this? He done that yet?" No spoilers, except for the Ninth Doctor's vaguish backstory, and an assumption of perfectly justifiable PTSD. Set before the events of"Rose," the Doctor is an angry guy, and damn it, he's got legitimate pain, so move over, suicide girl.


recced because: I admit, I'm punting on this one and re-reccing an author, but I really, really wanted to close this week out with a Ninth Doctor, my Doctor, story. One of my favorite Ninth Doctor sub-genres is post-time war, pre-series and this ranks up there with the best. As usual, Kalima seasons her angst with a light, comic touch but make no mistakes, this one hurts. Putting a fresh spin on "The Doctor Saves Someone From Committing Suicide" trope, this story is told from the viewpoint of an Original Character, the "suicide girl" and turns a human lens onto the Doctor who is torturing himself/making amends for events caused by the time war. Fabulous stuff.

Author's Summary: Jack and Owen worry about the important things...like who has the coolest stuff.


recced because: It's Friday and Friday calls for Crack!Fic. This? Over-the-top funny. So, the Torchwood Boys are having an internet smackdown with the boys from Gotham over who has the coolest stuff. Yes, those boys from Gotham - it's a Batman/Torchwood Crossover. But even if all you know about Batman is that he has a sidekick, you can stiil appreciate the LOL funny. Spastamagoria manages to write screamingly hysterical crack while still keeping the character's voices true which is the benchmark of the very best crackfic. It's been a long week, so go ahead and click...you know you're curious. ;)

recced because: There is a criminal lack of Sarah Jane Adventure fic so when one pops up that highlights the charming chemistry between the characters and the fun, wacky dynamic they share, it's worth sharing. Ellisbelle crafted an amusing, light fic that touches on slash, femslash but, most of all, on the bond between the characters that even a few years beyond the series, just sparkles. If you've not yet seen SJA, this fic is a nice introduction to the characters, if you have, this will make you laugh out loud.

Sorry about the earlier, peek-a-boo duplicate rec. Great minds? I've now double-checked my rec list and it's clean. I was determined to post a "happy" fic today so, onto to the Monday fun!

recced because: I absolutely adore Alt!World Rose-Mickey-Jake buddy fics (eta: punctuation changed to save doyle_sb4's sanity) and this is one of the best of the lot. The dynamic between the three characters is amusing, irreverent and filled with caring and admiration, when they're not teasing each other without mercy, that is. A fic where Rose is happy, living a full life and having adventures of her own is a rare thing, Mickey and Jake are the icing on the cake. This is joyful fic with a slightly cracky twist that only adds to the sense fun.
