Author's Summary: After the lock containing the Time War shatters and bursts open, the remnants left behind burn along with Gallifrey and the Daleks.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, The Master (Simm)

Recced because: It's a snapshot of how things might eventually end, if they were to end as terribly as possible. Dark, chilling, and heartbreaking, if only for the glimpses of what was or what might have been for the Doctor and the Master in this universe, traveling together as allies until something happens--and it's as much our guess as it is theirs--to break the Time Lock and set the Universe to destroy any and all remnants of the Time War, once and for all. The Master's voice and point of view are particularly gripping in this story--reformed but defiant, anger warring with disbelief, but also somehow oddly redeemed in this universe, even as it decides that neither he nor the Doctor gets to stay.
