Hello! Ya'll belong to ME this week! I do love Classic Who but I'll do my best to bring a mix of New Who and maybe some Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures in to mix things up a little.

Story: Dreams and Memories (The Oneirology Remix)
Author: KindKit
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 303
Author's Summary: Zoe, Jamie, and the Third Doctor, dreaming.
Characters/Pairings: Zoe, Jamie, 3
Warnings: None

Recced because: Usually I'm all about the humor but I do appreciate a whallop of sheer heartbreak every once in a while. This triple-drabble explores the ultimate fates of these three friends after the Time Lords forcibly separated them (an act which has always made me seethe) and, like I said, it's heartbreaking but beautifully written and underscored with just the faintest line of hope.

Story: Recognition
Author: Kindkit
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 505
Author's Summary: Jamie, the Doctor, and the art of seeing.
Characters/Pairings: Two/Jamie
Warnings: Based around an event in 'The Mind Robber'.

Recced because: Kindkit is very good at these short snapshot fics, most of which revolve around one central idea and revelation. This is an excellent example of that genre, with some lovely phrasing and memorable images that fit well in Jamie's idioms and experience. It's also very well paced, with time slowing down towards the end as the mood of both characters changes. In general, it is a very beautiful and well-crafted thing.

Excerpt: For a second Jamie is very small and very homesick. Then the feeling drifts away, and he stares into the Doctor's funny little creased face, which for once is not smiling, which has folded into something new, like when Victoria learnt to make a crane from a sheet of paper. Jamie knows then that he'd follow the Doctor all the way to the end of the universe. Or farther, because Zoe says the universe doesn't have an end.

Story: Young Men Among Roses
Author: KindKit
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 1006
Author's Summary: Jack Harkness, shell-shocked and amnesiac, is sent to Craiglockhart War Hospital in the summer of 1918. There he meets John Smith, a fellow soldier.
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Eight
Warnings: some not particularly graphic sex

Recced because:

Originally I was going to rec another one of Kindkit’s stories, but then while I was browsing through his/her archived works I discovered this gem and was utterly captivated. It tells, in prose that flows like poetry, the tale of two lost and lonely men, drifting without a past, through a convalescent home’s rose garden as summer fades to autumn, and the War to End all Wars (oh bitter irony) draws to a close.

I’m not sure I understand this fic completely (and that’s part of the charm), but the beauty of it, and the palatable feelings of loss, desperation, and sometimes hope coming off the characters make it worth the read. Even more so since all of that is packed into just a touch over 1000 words.

Author's Summary: Jamie thinks the future's a grand place.
Characters/Pairings: Two/Jamie

Recced because: it encapsulates their canon relationship in one simple, well-chosen metaphor - and then lets Jamie be the one curious enough to explore it. Short, but lovely.
