Well it’s Day Two of the fic picking! Last time I was doing this I mentioned a fondness for Big Finish’s Doctor Who Audios and that delightful Edwardian Adventuress, Charlotte Pollard (known as Charley to Friends) and her friend the Eighth Doctor. And just as last time I showed you a peek into a missing moment aboard the TARDIS, here’s another!

Author's Summary: Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without it. Immediately after the events of The Chimes of Midnight, the Doctor tries cooking. Charley tries to understand the nature of love.

Warnings: Some spoilers for the story The Chimes of Midnight.

Recced because: Well The Chimes of Midnight is my favourite Eighth Doctor story ever and whilst I’d admit some knowledge of that tale wouldn’t hurt before reading this it’s still a great tale – all you need to know that in the aftermath of their most recent excursion, the Doctor’s taken a shine to try baking Plum Pudding in the TARDIS (which considering its usage in the previous tale Charley finds shocking). And this of course leads to some fun kitchen based antics as the console each other over the weird temporal circumstances they previously experienced. Add a dash of romance and you’re all set!

Recced because:: It’s a gorgeously written short fic (one of those written for Big Finish’s recent competition that makes you question their sanity for turning it down). Eight and Lucie are captured here, (and well on form) and it’s lovely to see some playing around with history, while the questions touched on in its short length are worth pondering. It’s excellent all round, and I can’t recommend it enough. If you're a newbie to this Big Finish duo, then this is a lovely intro.
