Recced because: Adorable Academy era friends to lovers Koschei/Theta story. Covers their friendship from age eight when they looked into the Vortex through the time they make love for the first time. Sweet, funny, warm and fuzzy, with a touch of drums related angst. Told from Koschei’s point of view, as he comes to realize that he wants to be more than friends with Theta.
Excerpt: “The next dream Koschei could remember was several nights later. Theta and Drax were starting up an all-ukulele musical act, but since they’d failed to properly instruct Koschei and Ushas in the ukulele arts, they would have to accept Ushi on tambourine and Koschei on the drums. There was some trouble about getting booked he really couldn’t remember the next day. The weird thing, he thought as he shaved his recently arrived facial hair, carefully omitting the fuzz at his upper lip (he was trying to grow a moustache), was that none of them even really liked Drax. He just sort of hung around. Koschei couldn’t imagine why he’d dream that Drax would be in lead-ukulele position opposite Theta when he was the clear choice for the role.”

Summary: In the course of the years recorded (unclear exactly how many), the Doctor confides his hopes, his dreams, his assessment of his wardrobe choices (v.g.) and his continual frustrations with the Time Lords - particularly the one who keeps annoyingly coming to visit him. It's difficult enough to keep his new regeneration resolutions already.
Why this must be read: It's hilarious! The Doctor's diary entries are hilariously snarky and really quite in character and his denial of his feelings for the Master is adorable. His friendship with Jo is also wonderful, going clothes shopping with her and talking to her about his conflicting feelings towards the Master. Completely adorable!
Excerpt: "10pm: Told Jo about the Master’s proposal. We both agreed that half a universe would give us significantly more wardrobe space, but that this wasn’t a good reason to accept a proposal from a ruthless megalomaniac, even if he is quite attractive and v polite. Am too young to get married/rule the universe anyway."

Recced because: Fun and cleverly cracky crossover. It’s always fun to see an outsider’s perspective on the Doctor/Master relationship and Spike and Angel’s reactions are perfect. It’s totally believable that Spike and the Master would get along so well and their mockery of the Doctor is delightfully mean and in character.
Excerpt: Observing the interaction between the Doctor and the Master, Spike reached what he thought was a sagacious conclusion. He then reached the decision to share it with the entire room. “You two bicker like old and very unhappy marrieds. Maybe you should think of getting a divorce.” Turning to Angel, he said “Angel, are you sure you don't know the Doctor from way back? Because it sounds like you learned a thing or two from him about how to pick up blond teenaged girls.” Feeling like he should make at least a token attempt to regain control of the situation before abandoning all hope, Angel glowered at Spike. “Spike, not now. And I'm sure Mr. Master has some real legal problem he's here to see us about, not your crazy imaginings.”
