Hello all! This is my first time reccing, like, ever, and I am so excited to share some really excellent stories with all of you! My two ships are Ten/Donna and Doctor/River, but I enjoy anything that's really well written. Fics I enjoy are often of a happier or more emotional persuasion, often containing many giggles and fun banter.
This first fic I'm reccing is by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] starjargon, for whom I am honored to beta and who kindly returns the favor. I think you'll all really like it.

Story: May The Best Woman Win
Author: Starjargon
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 2948
Author's Summary: Martha and Rose both care deeply for the same man. So of course, the only logical thing to do is fight for him. With jousting poles. AU, obviously.
Characters/Pairings: Amy Pond, Canton Everett Delaware III, Donna Noble, Harriet Jones, Harriet Jones, Jack Harkness, Jack Harkness, Lynda Moss, Martha Jones, River Song, River Song, Rory Williams, Rose Tyler, Rose Tyler, Sarah Jane Smith, The Doctor (10th), The Doctor (11th), The Doctor
Warnings: None

Recced because: This is a very fun, enjoyable fic that has pretty much every nuWho companion out there, as well as three different Doctors. Incredibly well written, with a strong, even representation of opposing characters, and some fantastic plot twists. It's one of my favorites that she's written, because she handles the complexity of dealing with so many different characters and emotions all at once in such a masterful and brilliant way.

And we come to the end of my rec week! I had an epic blast, so I leave you with an epic crack!fic XD I hope you guys enjoyed the fics this week - they are all gems imo! =D

Story: There Was a Master in a Game
Author: Azriona
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 66712
Author's Summary: Gallifrey wasn’t entirely lost when it went back into the Time Lock; it just got stuck. The Master wants out. Isn’t he lucky that the Doctor left him a way?
Characters/Pairings: K-9, Lynda Moss, Sally Sparrow, The Master (Simm), Romana, OCs
Warnings: none

Recced because: I'll be honest and say that I wasn't initially planning on reading this fic when it came out. It didn't have any pairings I recognize or fangirl, and I'm not really into The Master fics, so I was gonna take a pass. Then, my Friend List literally exploded with praise for this fic, so I decided to read it and see what all the fuss was about. SO GLAD I DID!! It is an incredibly funny, ingenious account of the Master post-End of Time. We know and love him as an evil crazy guy ... but, between the crack!tastically funny dialogue, this fic has mystery (what is the point of the game?) and even character development, which is a rare feat for a crack!fic to pull off so beautifully and believably!! I read it the whole thing in one sitting 2 days before a big midterm - that is how much I liked it!! I hope you enjoy it as well! =D

This is my last rec for this week! I hope you all enjoyed my choices; I had a lot of fun picking them out and writing about them. So, lastly but not leastly:

Story:Walk Out With Me to the Unknown Region
Author: rutsky
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 84539
Characters: Jack Harkness, Lynda Moss, others
Author's Summary: Given the slightest opportunity, chance, the universe’s bastard child by chaos, tends toward life.

Recced because: We see a lot of one-shot characters come and go in Doctor Who. "Spear carriers in the opera", as the saying goes. And we see a lot of characters go in rather horrible ways. Rarely do we see them get another chance. But that is exactly what rutsky gives us in this story. At the end of Parting of the Ways, Rose the Bad Wolf brings life, but to how many? And what happened after that? Here, rutsky steps in and tells us the story of Lynda with a 'Y', Govinda and Davitch, Meg, Roderick and all the rest of the characters we last saw on the Game station. Rose and the Doctor are defined only in their absence; even Jack is less the main focus of the story and more one of the ensemble. This is Lynda Moss's journey, her second chance at life. It's got action and peril, fantastic narration, mystery, discovery, and just gorgeous character development of people who we only glimpsed in the episodes. In the aftermath of the Hero and Heroine's swift departure, rutsky gives us a story in which the "spear carriers" shine.
