Last rec. Thanks for letting me share. :)

Story: Child of the Gods
Author: johne
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 3,893
Author's Summary: Vicki took the name Cressida, married Troilus, and made a life for herself with the refugees of fallen Troy. But now a man has come among them who claims to be a demigod, and he's killing anyone who gets in his way.
Characters/Pairings: Vicki
Warnings: None.

Recced because: First of all, johne's repository contains all of the rare and delightful early Doctor and minor character fics one could wish for - and that includes this gem, which is a fantastic take on Vicki-as-Cressida, giving hope to the Trojan refugees and leading them as best she can. And oh, does this placate my inner history nerd, as well as create delicious, clever sci-fi drama. The world needs more Vicki fic, but for now I'm content with a piece wherein she blows stuff up and is generally awesome. Not to mention the last line, which both demands and rejects the idea of a sequel, as it seeps hauntingly back through the entire story.

Story: From the First -- Oh, Those Human Women!
Author: Sigyn
Rating: Teen, some adult themes
Word Count: 7,214
Author's Summary: As the 10th Doctor considers his possible future, or lack thereof, with Martha Jones, he is drawn to remember his very first human lover -- the Aztec woman Cameca. What is it about human women? Assumes familiarity with Gridlock and general NuWho history.
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (10th), The Doctor (1st), Martha Jones, Cameca, Brannigan, Valerie
Warnings: As the author notes - sex scenes, but nothing graphic.

Recced because: Typically, sex scenes tend to make me blush and hide like an eight-year-old under the duvet. If they're tastefully done, I can dig 'em - I may be immature, but stronger stuff lurks beneath!

Anyhow, this is one of the best stories I've come across where sexual themes are the main focus of the plot. The First Doctor, by most accounts not the first to pop into mind where such scenes are concerned, manages to be delightfully accurate and adorable. Cameca is feisty. Martha cuddles kitten-babies. Kitten-babies. One of my favourite fics on Teaspoon.

Story: The Calm After the Storm
Author: lolrassilon
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 14,149
Author's Summary: As resident Enigmatic Alien aboard the TARDIS, the Doctor finds himself questioned by his curious companions during a quiet moment between adventures. As one question leads to another, the trio end up confronting the harsh reality that was the Time War.
Characters/Pairings: Amy Pond, Rory Williams, The Doctor (11th), The Doctor (8th)
Warnings: None.

Recced because: I think I'd better face it. I'm obsessed with the Time War. I'm obsessed with fics about the Time War, and I think this huge, empty playground that is the Time War is one of the best possible gifts a show could ever grant fandom, bar none. That said, I love this story, not only because it encompasses and portrays the horrors I imagine to befit such a war, but it relates them back to our present Doctor-and-companions box set - and the Zero Room! They brought back the Zero Room!

I won't spoil any more, but there's also a really fun part where you lose your mind.

Hi, I'm gibbous, leamichelle on Teaspoon, and something far less polite practically everywhere else. My attention span currently holds the Guinness World Record for the 100m Sprint, so you can deduce that my recommendations are either going to totally rock or just be really pretty, so there's nothing lost either way. Enjoy!

Story: One Eighty One
Author: silvercocoa
Rating: Teen/PG-13
Word Count: 6,220
Author's Summary: There were three hundred sixty-six days that were never meant to happen. Toshiko Sato remembers up until the day she died.
Characters/Pairings: Gwen Cooper, Ianto Jones, Jack Harkness, Toshiko Sato, Owen Harper, Rhys Williams, The Master (Simm)
Warnings: Salty language, violence.

Recced because: The Year That Never Was has always intrigued me, simply because of what it is: a bunch of stuff happened, except for the persistent fact that nothing happened at all. I just figured that since we were cool with being utterly screwed by Time Herself (that's what you get for messing with her boytoy), it would be okay to, you know, take soul abuse. After all, WWJDD? This lovely, incredibly story catalogues - weeks, days at a time - what Team Torchwood went through during the year of oppression and instigated terror by the hand of the Master. I don't usually do whump!fic in such epic proportions, but this was so believable and everyone was so in character that it completely overshadowed every reservation I had.
