Recced because: This is a scene that lingers in your mind with the same bittersweet warmth of the Brigadier’s glass of sherry, and I remembered it long after first reading it. Just as it says on the tin, the author gives us a lovely and not quite sad glimpse of Lethbridge-Stewart facing his final retirement as he removes his jacket and hangs it up for the very last time.
Introspective and perfect for the character, in his practical brevity and longing to still be of some use to his world. This was written as a Veteran’s Day fic and very appropriately makes the reader want to give the Brig and all like him a proper salute of in honour.
