And already it is my last rec! I really enjoyed doing this, thank you all for having me.

Story: Measuring Up
author: Moonmonkey
word count: 1701
author's summary: The writing is on the wall but, once again, it seems the Doctor is failing to grasp some fairly basic facts. Follow up to "True Colours". Now with new Rose & Ten scene added.
characters/pairings: Eight Doctor, Charley Pollard, Tenth Doctor, Rose Tyler
warnings: none

recced because: Although I like all Doctors, Eight is my favourite, and since there is a serious lack of good fluffy Eight and Charley fic, I’d like to finish the week by offering you this.

I don’t think there is a Doctor who works quite as well with fluff as Eight. Sometimes it seems like he’s made of the stuff. This story certainly brings out everything I love about Eight; his obliviousness to perfectly obvious things, his feigned innocence and his ability, seemingly more so than any other Doctor, to end up in extremely silly situations and still be perfectly himself. His dialogue here with Charley is great, funny and above all: fluffy. You know a story is good when you can hear the voices of the characters in your head, and that is the case here. If that hasn’t convinced you yet, then there is also a short second chapter with Ten and Rose which is just as great, funny and fluffy.

It says in the author’s summary that it is a follow up to another story, but you don’t need to have read that one in order to understand this one. (Although if you want more Eight and Charley fluff, definitely go and check it out).

Story: How To Save The Universe, Without Leaving The Room
Author: moonmonkey
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 19372
Author's Summary: You’re the last of the Time Lords. Your civilisation has been blown out of existence, taking your mortal enemies with it. And now you think the universe might be unravelling. Or you are. Two people in a room, from 'Rose' to 'Journey's End.'
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (8-10)/ Nyssa… purely platonic, of course. ;)
Warnings: none

Recced because:

I don’t think there is a story on the teaspoon which I’ve come back to more than this; half a dozen times at least, and each time it’s just as fresh, just as lovely.

The story is about Nyssa and the Doctor, but mostly it is about Nyssa; an older, wiser Nyssa who has come to accept her lot in life. True to its title, the fic never leaves the confines of her bedroom at Oxford where, following her adventures with the Doctor and on Terminus, Nyssa became a professor. The plot takes the form of a disjointed conversation which begins in 1935 (for Nyssa) and concludes alongside the first strikes of WWII. Despite the lack of actual action the pace never slackens and the powder keg atmosphere of a world, and a universe, on edge is evident throughout. I love the idea of Nyssa as the Doctor’s backstage “whoops, and then my planet was gone” grief consoler and advisor. I love the heady mixture of science, and music, and angst, and H/C, and silly Doctor babblings, and catastrophic consequences, and, of course, it’s all topped off with the best bit of fluff imaginable.

Story: Mind The Gap (WIP)
Author: moonmonkey
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 27056
Author's Summary: Londoners. They'd have you believe that their city is the one true beating heart of the entire world - of the universe, even. And they'd be right.
Characters/Pairings: Anji Kapoor, Fitz Kreiner, Romana (author created), The Doctor (8th)
Warnings: Explicit Violence, Swearing

Recced because: Crossovers are often between uncomplimentary fandoms, but the steam-punk gothic feel of the middle of the EDA series melds seamlessly with Neverwhere. This is a great concept written by someone who clearly has a feel for the characters and has perfected haunting menace to a fine art. It is a WIP, but it is regularly updated with decently lengthy chapters ... and let's face it, good fanfic is worth waiting for.
