Recced because: Starting right after his regeneration in "The Time of the Doctor," this fic gives us the first sixty seconds of the Twelfth Doctor's new life from his own POV. Moving skillfully from Capaldi's performance to meta about the show itself, it's very amusing and loads of fun.

Recced because: Anyone who's read my own fic output knows I have a fondness for unusual pairings, and I think it's fair to say Five/hatstand qualifies as "unusual." Even better, this story is written from the hatstand's POV, so you, too can experience the deep longing a simple wooden hatstand has for her Time Lord. At 260 words, it's too short to excerpt, so I suggest just clicking on the link to read this surprisingly sweet and romantic little ficlet for yourselves.

Recced because: First, this entertaining fic includes my favorite Doctor/companion team (though the Doctor doesn't appear until near the end) plus the Brigadier. Second, it provides plenty of interaction between Ace and the Brigadier, which I really wanted after watching Battlefield a few weeks ago. I was thinking about how those two characters might get along if they had more time to get to know each other, and that's what this fun story depicts. I also love the inclusion of Doris, who only rarely appears in fanfic.

Author's Summary: The Doctor wouldn't normally have a conversation with a statue -- but then, he's never met one that moves before.

Recced because: What if "Blink" wasn't the Doctor's first encounter with the Weeping Angels? Palgrave suggests it was the Fourth Doctor who first ran into them, deep in a family tomb with nothing but his wit, a dog whistle, and a scarf to protect him. The character voices here are spot-on, particularly Four's deadpan humor and Leela's fierceness, and there's very little that makes me happier than an author who can write the characters so that they sound exactly like themselves.

Author's Summary: In which Buffy makes an error of judgement, and really, the Doctor only has himself to blame walking around Sunnydale dressed like that. Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover.
Characters/Pairings: Other Character(s), Sarah Jane Smith, The Doctor (3rd)

Recced because: I only have a cursory knowledge of Classic Who, but the Buffy fan in me was drawn to this particular piece. It's written from Buffy's (3rd person) POV, and the Doctor, as seen through the eyes of the Vampire Slayer, is a funny sight indeed. And given the Third Doctor's particularly Vampirific clothing style (which is definitely the butt of the joke in this piece), he is the perfect choice for this encounter. I love a well-done crossover, and this is a particularly clever and witty one.
