Story: The Doctor Still Dances
Author: teacupnosaucer
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 1203
Author's Summary: Amy and Rory play dress-up. So, coincidentally, does the Doctor.
Characters/Pairings: Amy Pond/ Rory Williams/ Eleventh Doctor
Warnings: None

Recced because: I didn't set out to make this threesome week, it just happened that way! As it is, the Doctor Still Dances manages to capture just about everything I love in the interaction between Amy, Rory and the Doctor. Amy is playful and doesn't take things too seriously; Rory is a bit reluctant but is willing to try for Amy; and the Doctor is willing to put aside his demons for a moment (but just for a moment) for his companions. And just like in the best episodes of this trio, there's also the slightly uncomfortable undercurrent, the things we, the audience know, that Amy and Rory don't - this fic manages to be touching and fun at the same time.

Story: before time there was a void until a voice said 'I' and was "vulnerable and divine"
Author: Teacupnosaucer
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 3,519
Author's Summary: The Doctor. And then, Jack. Always Jack. Takes place after TDD.
Characters/Pairings: Ninth Doctor/Jack
Warnings: Explicit sex

Recced because: The Doctor is just the perfect balance of intense, know-it-all, and caring in this. Every piece of dialogue works to push the story forward, and the glimpses of Jack's background are haunting.  There's also a sexy Boeshane linguistics lesson.  This is a great story for reconciling the Jack from Doctor Who and the Jack from Torchwood without lessening either characterization.

How about a fic from the new series for today?

Story: One Long Starless Night, Two Soldiers Met at a Crossroads
Word Count:
Author's Summary:
Rory receives an unlikely visitor: a man both like him and not. Someone makes a promise they could never keep. But for a little while, anyway, things aren't quite so lonely. A story in four parts.
Characters/Pairings: Amy Pond, Rory Williams, Jack Harkness
Warnings: Spoilers for the end of series 5.

Recced because: This fic chronicles the adventures of the Lone Centurion during the events of the series 5 finale and his meeting with another man in a similar predicament: one Captain Jack Harkness. It weaves both eras together nicely, dropping small details throughout, and is achingly bittersweet and intimate throughout. This piece captures the pervasive loneliness of those who are fixed in a world that is constantly in flux. The last section, in particular, will leave you with a bit of a broken heart.

A small sample... )

Everyone needs to have a good cry now and then, right?

Story: Note to Self: You're Going to Forget All This
Author: Teacupnosaucer
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 2380
Author's Summary: Three thousand years later, Jack doesn't remember much about the leather strap he wears around his wrist; all he knows is that the device inside it needs to be repaired as soon as possible. Every year that passes he finds himself forgetting more and more, his mind collapsing under the weight of his own prolonged existence. So he does his best to follow the clues his younger self leaves him in the hopes they'll lead him somewhere that makes sense again. For now, that means one date, expressed as coordinates: 2009-08-23.
Characters/Pairings: Jack Harkness, Ianto Jones
Warnings: Swearing

Recced because: I don't consider myself a shipper as such (although I love a good romance,) I don't usually read much Torchwood fic (although I loved the show,)  and the tag 'angst' usually makes me skip right over something automatically, and yet the description of this fic was so intriguing I had to give it a shot.  I'm glad I did!   Romance, angst, and a splash of timey-wimey combine perfectly in this sweet, sad story.  You don't need to be a shipper or like Jack/Ianto to enjoy this one, you just have to have loved someone before.
