Getting the last one in under the wire! I was planning to only rec crossovers this week, but then I found this fic and I couldn’t not rec it. So the last one breaks the mold. Thanks for having me, all, and to all a good night!

Story: And Indeed There Will Be Time
Author: kaydee_falls
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 42816
Author's Summary: In 1919, Harriet Derbyshire was killed while investigating the disappearance of Torchwood Four in Dublin. In 2009, UNIT pulls a dying man out of the Irish Sea with a one-word message: Torchwood. Martha joins up with Jack's team in Cardiff to track down the errant branch of the organization -- before a time-traveling race of aliens can change the course of history as we know it. (Jack/Ianto + team)
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Ianto, Donna Noble, Gwen Cooper, Martha Jones, Mickey Smith, UNIT
Warnings:

Recced because: I love a good twisty time travel mystery, and this fic delivers on all counts. The Jack/Ianto pairing is so background you’ll hardly notice it, so don’t come into the fic expecting romance; this is all action adventure time travel plot mystery, all the time. Well-drawn OCs, a richly realized setting, a fantastic mystery, and insanely good writing – you’ll be up late reading it, just as I was!

Story: The Pond Continuum
Author: kaydee falls
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 5,407
Author's Summary: Five people who have never heard of the Ponds (but might have met them anyway), and one who has.
Characters/Pairings: Amy/Rory, Amy/Rory/Jack, Martha, Sarah Jane, Rose, Ninth Doctor, Canton Everett Delaware III
Warnings: Swearing

Recced because: "The Angels Take Manhattan" left a giant-sized hole in canon for fic writers to fill: namely, how Amy and Rory spent their years in the past. Kaydee Falls posits quite reasonably that they could have met any number of characters with whom we're already familiar -- Martha during the Depression, Rose during Elizabeth II's coronation, Jack during World War II, and others. The characterization and voices are spot-on, and there's a gentle sense of humor that feels completely in keeping with the Ponds' unconventional relationship to each other, not to mention their unflappability when it comes to accepting the unusual, like a stranger in Barcelona, Spain berating himself for not mentioning something travels in time.

We've come to my tenth and last rec. Thanks for letting me share some of my favorite fics with you!

Story: All Maps Welcome
Author: kaydee_falls
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1722
Author's Summary: She knows she's not the only person to ever have traveled with the Doctor. It's a comforting thought.
Characters/Pairings: Clara Oswald, the Eleventh Doctor
Warnings: None

Recced because: It's gorgeous. It's about Clara and the road she takes, but it's also about the road that all companions of the Doctor take. It's beautifully written, and uplifting, and a great tribute to the legacy of everyone who travels with the Doctor, and has their lives changed thereby.

Story: To Her Coy Mistress
Author: kaydee falls
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 6862
Author's Summary: In which there are interrupted heists, chance encounters, snogging, and headaches over verb tenses. A non-linear love story. (Christina/Jenny)
Characters/Pairings: Jenny, Lady Christina de Souza, Jack Harkness, Reinette; Jenny/Christina
Warnings: None given

Recced because: This is actually the first fic I found on Teaspoon that I loved. The pairing isn't one I'd have thought of, but it really works, and the prose is lovely. The angst here kind of hits you in waves, as more and more of the tangled timeline is revealed. Read it twice for extra tragedy. (And if angst isn't your thing the way it's mine, don't let that deter you: this is also a free-wheeling adventure story.)

Story: Lovely Branches
Author: Kaydee Falls
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 4995
Author's Summary: A fairytale about Amelia Pond and the big Bad Wolf.
Characters/Pairings: Amy, Rose, Rory, Eleven
Warnings: none

Recced because: This is a lovely story that picks up on the fairytale elements of Season 5 and runs with them.  I'm not a big fan of the "Rose comes back" genre, but this is handled really carefully, and the first few sections in particular (with young Amelia) are fabulous.  The characterizations are all good, and it's a bittersweet, low-key adventure that spans Amy's life as we know it.  Keep an eye out for the Beast Below scene--what Amy sees on the screen makes a lot of sense as an addition to canon.

Here's an excerpt:

There is a crack in Amelia's wall, and it leads to another world.

Amelia knows these things. She's read all the proper stories to prepare herself, of course. She considered the possibility of Narnia at first, then dismissed that as fanciful. Even with witches and endless winters, Narnia was a land of marvelous things, fauns and Father Christmas and wonder. The crack in her wall is nothing like that. There's something there, something dark and terrible and frightening. Amelia doesn't want to find out where it goes.

Story: Life in Technicolor
Author:  kaydee_falls
Rating: Teen
Word Count:  11,091
Author’s Summary: There's a woman alive in this world who wasn't alive before, and that woman is her, and this entire universe is different because she's here now. (Post-Doomsday Rose!fic, AU from that point on. Mainly Rose/Doctor with a side of Rose/Jack.)
Characters/Pairings:  Rose/Ten, Rose/alt!Jack, Mickey Smith

Recced because: Life in Technicolor totally blew me away! This story is elegant at every level: structure, prose, emotion, and more.  Flashbacks and imagined futures intertwine with the present as  Rose lives on Pete’s World, trying to adjust to her new life.  The progression of her emotions and choices is just right.  There’s a fabulous appearance by alt!Jack. The language is plum gorgeous, the details inventive, and the dialog always in-character.  If all that isn’t enough, the story makes marvelous use of Bad Wolf that at one point literally made me gasp out loud. (Yes, I was that immersed in the story.)   If you read only one story I rec this week, make it this one.
