And here is my last rec for the week! I've saved one of my absolute favourites for last, enjoy.

Story: Coaster Castles (And Other Sturdy Defenses)
Author: rallalon
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 8106
Author's Summary: He's only a bloke in a bar, but he's a bloke in a bar who needs her
Characters/Pairings: Rose Tyler, The Doctor (10th)
Warnings: Explicit sex, Angst

Recced because: How can something so angsty be so amazingly hot? Ten, in a vulnerable moment after season three and the trip on the spaceship Titanic, is heartbreaking in this fic. Rallalon writes Ten and Rose to perfection and does quite well at the smutty bits *waves face* but it is the emotion that makes me remember this, even 2 years after I first read it. The formatting with double spacing is a tad off putting but it is worth persevering and getting to the heart of the story.

Plus the last sentence. Ugh, my heart still clenches when I read it. If you are partial to the Rose/Ten ship and haven't read this fic yet, then I advise reading this poste haste!

Whilst I never intended it, I have realised that most of my recs have been on the humorous side this week. This second last rec from me is no exception!

Story: Clash of the Titans
Author: AnneHedonia
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 1809
Author's Summary: Four geniuses who're sure they're right, all in the same room. Fandoms: Doctor Who/House/The Mentalist/Sherlock. Fair warning: this is crackier than a Roman ruin.
Characters/Pairings: Martha Jones, The Doctor (10th), Other Character(s)
Warnings: None

Recced because: I can't remember how I stumbled upon this little gem but I am extremely grateful that I did. It combines four separate universes into one so amazingly, I can't believe that it isn't canon. AnneHedonia manages to keep the the characters voice, attitudes and actions intact, which leads to much hilarity. Watch for the appearance of the companions/offsiders of the four main characters because that is so how this bizarre situation would go down.

For those concerned, you need not be a fan of all the other shows, such as House or the Mentalist, to get the gist of what is going on but if you have watched all four shows, you are in for a treat!

Because it is Saturday night, how about a quick fic to read before heading off for a night of fun (whether it be scrabble, night clubs or a night in with a good book)?

Story: Five Times the Sonic Screwdriver Proved Worse than Useless
Author: Netgirl_y2k
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 506
Author's Summary: “Never touch my sonic screwdriver."
Characters/Pairings: Donna Noble, Jack Harkness, Rose Tyler, The Doctor (10th), The Doctor (9th), The Master (Simm)
Warnings: None

Recced because: The humour. The Master and his twisted but oh so wonderful mind. Nine and his grouchiness. Donna Noble. The one liners. Jack bloody Harkness and the mental image of TARDIS humping. THE FIFTH TIME! Seriously, a great fic that proves you don't need many words to pack a humorous punch. This story still puts a smile on my face and hopefully on yours as well.

Story: Fire of Ages
Author: AceOnGallifrey
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1266
Author's Summary: Romana's last moments, as she ransoms the universe with her own life and maybe, just maybe, finds something Beyond.
Characters/Pairings: Donna Noble, Martha Jones, Rover Song, Romana III, Rose Tyler, The Doctor (8th)
Warnings: None

Recced because: This haunting yet beautiful piece of work really explores Romana and the impact her thoughts and feelings have after the time war. This fic also opens up the impact the Doctor had on Romana and how things might have turned out if she hadn't seen the universe through another lens other than the Timelord way.

I also love the Eighth doctor and Romana together. I think there should be many more fics exploring that combination in a positive light as the current canon through the BBC books shows quite a deep divide between the two.

Excerpt: Omega and the Other posited that the Fire of Ages, flowing through the veins of a Time Lord, might be a weapon of incredible power- but at the cost of the bearer's life. No one has ever before had the courage to try it, not even now at the end of all things. Except... she does. She and the Doctor.

From something short and bitter-sweet to something long and uplifting!

Story:
The Gordian Knot
Author: Gargantua29
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 57,413
Author's Summary: When entrusted with the power of the multiverse, it sometimes helps to have a user manual. Rose makes a wish that has unexpected consequences.
Characters/Pairings: Donna Noble, Other Character(s),Rose Tyler, The Doctor (10th), The Doctor (9th), The TARDIS
Warnings: None

Recced because:I have been a long time fan of the Piers Anthony 'Incarnations of Immortality' series and this fic combines what I found fascinating about the three aspects of fate melded in with Doctor Who. How on Earth could I resist?

Regardless of your attitudes to Rose Tyler as a companion, her journey in this fic to find her way back across the void only demonstrates her compassion, her need to right wrongs and empathy for others (especially alien species) whilst introducing some terrific OC's. Plus there is Donna Noble sass which always go down a treat, especially when Nine is in the room.

Read if you enjoy some decent world building, a quite lovely Rose/Ten reunion fic and if you ever wondered how Nine would deal with a woman crankier than Jackie Tyler.

Hello! My Name is Cally and I will be your recommender of who fics for the next week. I am fan of all eras and may try to sneak a couple of Torchwood fics in as well.

It has been a bit of a manic Monday for me so lets start with a short, light fic that put a smile on my face.

Story: Heliocentric
Author: Vilinye
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1191
Author's Summary: Sherlock doesn't care that the Earth revolves around the sun. Nor does he remember that he once travelled the stars. AU for both Doctor and Sherlock, slightly crack theory.
Characters/Pairings: Other Character(s), The Doctor (Author-Created)
Warnings: If you are drinking a hot beverage, I recommend putting it down as there is one particular line that may induce laughter spluttering. Otherwise, no standard warnings apply.

Recced because: There have been so many great Doctor Who/Sherlock crossovers recced already but I finally found one that hadn't made it through. Vilinye has captured what a young Sherlock would be like when faced with the Doctor quite to my liking. I do wish there had been more written as I love the idea of Sherlock at the academy pointing out acerbic truths to the High Council as well as how he would deal with the Master (imagine the snippy comments!). Of course, the ending is bitter-sweet but since when has Sherlock or Doctor Who ever really given a happily ever after?
