Story: Verity
Author: whispersecho
Rating: None given (Gen)
Author's Summary: Inspired by and shamelessly filking bits from Paul Cornell's NA Human Nature... also contains spoilers for Love and War and Sanctuary. Right...I think it's really finished this time.
Characters/Pairings: Seventh Doctor, Ace McShane, Benny Summerfield, (Seven/Ace)
Warnings: None
Word Count: 8,419
Recced because: The story of the Doctor becoming John Smith and falling in love with Joan Redfern originally belonged to the Seventh Doctor, and included his companion Benny. Whisperecho brilliantly takes the original story and adds back what is missing - Ace. Ace shows up at the school, not knowing the the Doctor has used the arch to turn human. John Smith doesn't know Ace, but his psyche has incorporated her memory into his past in a very interesting (and telling) way. Lovely and true to character. Though it references a couple of the books you don't have to know them - just that at some point Ace left Seven to travel on her own, and misses him.
( A little hint of what is to come. )
