Aaagh! I'm really, really sorry about not posting this yesterday, but it was HECTIC over at chez Robot. (Internet was only working for 30 second bursts, and then my bedroom door fell apart... literally!) Anyways, today I'll post two, so stay tuned! Expect the next one in about half an hour.
Story: A Wind From Another World
Author: Poetry
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 20,502
Author's Summary: When a portal appears in the skies of Cardiff, the TARDIS team tumbles into another dimension and becomes tangled in an enigmatic prophecy. Doctor Who/His Dark Materials crossover (though no familiarity with the crossover fandom is necessary) set after Boom Town.
Characters/Pairings: Jack Harkness, Rose Tyler, The Doctor (9th).
Warnings: Swearing
Recced because:
Well. Normally I don't really go for crossovers, because the circumstances in most are a tad unbelieveable. However, this one is definitely one of the better ones, namely because of the malliability of the target universe, the His Dark Materials universe. For those of you unfamiliar with the trilogy, it is centred on a girl named Lyra Belacqua, set in a parallel Earth, where your "inner voice" takes an animal form, or daemon, outside of your body. Through the course of the trilogy, Lyra and her daemon, Pantalaimon, discover artifacts that allow them to travel through different parallel universes. A Wind From Another World takes that concept and runs with it. At the beginning of the story, the TARDIS is pulled through an interdimentional portal, to Lyra's universe, know as the Omega Tau universe to the Time Lords. Poetry has set this as a Nine fic, although it must be said that her Nine is a touch more like Ten in many respects. However, this is a well executed and thoughtful 'fic, and I look forward to seeing the conclusion. Bonus points are added for the liberal use of external media to further engage the reader. (Nice illustration, by the way!)
