Story: The Battle of Songhu
Author: azn_jack_fiend
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 5070
Author's Summary: AU. Premise: the events of "The Empty Child", "The Doctor Dances" and "Captain Jack Harkness" occur in and around 1937 Shanghai during the opening phase of the Second Sino-Japanese War.
Characters/Pairings: Nine, alt!Jack Harkness, Rose Tyler
Warnings: none
Recced because: It's a fresh look at two of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who, by virtue of placing them in a different setting. It also gets away from the Euro-centric world in which Doctor Who usually takes place and proves that the concept and format continue to work in other places on Earth. The writing is tight and well-executed, and I have more than a passing fondness for the character of Buffalo Yang. :-)
