Story: Rondo Veneziano
Author: Petunia Bowl
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 8,945
Author's Summary: The Doctor and Donna bump into a young man who bears a striking resemblance to someone we know.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Donna, Casanova
Warnings: None
Recced because: Oh, Donna Noble, you beautiful, brilliant thing. And let me tell you, few people write Miss Noble better than Petunia Bowl. Rondo Veneziano is a lovely, long one-shot where Donna and the Doctor attend a masked ball in Venice, the Doctor looks at maths book and Donna strikes up a conversation with a handsome stranger in a blue coat. A man who looks quite familiar, when she thinks about it...
This is not a ship-fic (even though I read it as one), but what's great about it is how perfectly Petunia Bowl captures Donna and the Doctor's relationship by using the eyes of a stranger. That the stranger happens to be Casanova is just icing on the cake.
( “But really, though. You’re him. The Casanova? )
