Then one Thursday, David finds a statue that looks a little bit too much like one of his best friends. Recced because: Although this fic is part of a series, this is the one I read first, so it's not necessary to understand who all the original characters are to enjoy this. And the original characters are a large part of the enjoyment. They're interesting and three dimensional and make you want to know more about them. The other reason I like this fic is the plot. It's a very Doctor Who-like plot, interestingly introduced and unfolded and solved. The fic also has its amusing moments, as in the excerpt, contrasted with the sad moments.
