Recced because: It gives us a glimpse of emotional life of the Seventh Doctor--the man behind the mastermind, if you will--and it does it beautifully. Through a series of short vignettes, rollingstone lets the Doctor interact with his past companions in the classic Five Things That Never Happened fashion and then tops it all off with an absolutely perfect scene with Ace. Throughout the fic, rollingstone has an absolute knack to capturing the mood of a scene. The Seventh Doctor is similarly well-captured in both sides of his dual nature: clownish at one moment, deadly serious in the next.
Plus, the world needs more fics where the Seventh Doctor invites Romana to come dancing and offers to play the spoons for her.
