Recced because: Two reasons!! =) Either one of these would make this interesting, memorable fic deserving of a rec.

1) Remember in Torchwood Children of Earth Day 5, how Gwen says something about how she thinks the Doctor didn't come because he's ashamed of humans? This is a very different take on his reason for not coming. I haven't seen this explanation before - it's fascinating!

2) This fic is truly a touching meta on the push-pull nature of Ten and Jack's friendship, which seems destined to never have the same closeness as Nine and Jack's friendship back in the trusting, innocent days of s1.

I will definitely have to check this one out once I delve further into Torchwood.

I'm actually a huge sucker for Doctor/Jack, mostly because I'm dying for the Doctor to have a male friend like he had Donna. (Although this season is giving him Rory full-time, so I'm psyched for that.) I think he and Ten didn't have the same bond as he and Nine did, but at the same time, I hold out hope that he and future Doctors will repair things, if Moff lets Jack return (since I know he's got that rule about the RTD companions not returning). I also hold on to the hope that Jack really is the Face of Boe, because if that's the case, the Doctor was there for him when he died and that makes me happy and sad all at once.
