Story: Sea Bound Hearts
Author: rutsky
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 8798
Author's Summary: Singers in this hard but beautiful land often told Helen they knew as many songs as there were stars in the sky. Tonight, with the aid of two impossible strangers, she would help one singer reclaim those stars.
Characters/Pairings: 9th Doctor/Rose Tyler/ TARDIS
Warnings: None
Recced because: A beautiful, lyrical story with a great alien life form, written from the POV of Dr. Helen Creighton, of whom the author writes: "Finally, the woman I grew up calling “Aunt Helen” had a gorgeous smile, a hearty laugh, a natural dignity and a deep kindness. Wherever she is now — perhaps traveling the stars in a way very different than our favorite Doctor and companion — I send her my respect and love". This is one of my favorite fics, and in one of my favorite styles -- seeing the Doctor and his companion from a OC point of view.
