Recced because: I'm kicking off these recs with a gorgeously cryptic fic about the power of stories. Like the author says, this is madly AU, but it feels like it could easily have been a part of canon - albeit a slightly dreamlike, more dark-fairytale version. Stories that manage to weave together New Who with nods to the Classic Era are special favourites of mine, and this does it with a sense of mystery that will leave you wondering exactly what happened and where it leaves the Universe, the characters, and the Doctor himself.
