Recced because: This is an incredible piece: just beautifully written, thoughtful, and also really, unexpectedly, hot. The Doctor here is Seven to a T, and Peri comes across as very sympathetic, very real. This story goes into such depth in so few words about the universe the Doctor and his companions inhabit: the idea of needing vs. wanting, forgetting, remembering, and creating your own history. It's twisty and imaginative, and wraps up the good and the bad all together into one amazing, if at times somewhat deliciously uncomfortable, whole. It's a fabulous piece of work.

Story: Bizarre Love Rectangle

Author's summary: Peri gets drunk, Erimem gets revealing, Hex discovers his inner Whovian fanboy, and Ace is ace. Follows on directly from the DWM Big Finish audio The Veiled Leopard, which featured the two sets of companions but never allowed them to meet, which was an awful shame. Spoilery for said audio, but perfectly comprehensible if you haven’t heard it.

Recced because: I hadn't yet heard The Veiled Leopard the first time I read this story. I loved it anyway. Since then I've listened to Veiled Leopard four or five times, and I love this fic even more. It's just the kind of continuation I wish that audio really had had, throwing two of my favorite companion teams together and letting them getting to know each other. Their interaction includes getting drunk, flirting, and gossiping about the Doctor. All good stuff. Bonus: two amusing scenes with my favorite Doctors (today, anyway), Five and Seven.

Recced because: Sometimes you want to read long plotty gen, sometimes you want to read some character driven angst and sometimes what you really want to read is some brain bendingly hilarious crack!fic.

This fic has something for everyone, and by that I mean that whoever you ship they probably get a mention in there somewhere. It's very funny and never fails to cheer me up any time I read it.

Plus who doesn't love a fic that contains the line 'Captain Jack Harkness, at your service. Ah... I’ll find my pants, shall I?'

Recced because: In my opinion one the best things Big Finish has given us are the Fifth Doctor adventures with companions Peri and Erimem, and one the best of these audios is the laugh out loud funny The Kingmaker. This fic is a sweet and somber missing scene from that play. The character interactions are lovely, my favourite part is Peri and Erimem wondering what the Doctor would make of the new dimension to their relationship.

And, come on, Peri and Erimem spent a year trapped in the Bloody Tower disguised as boys, if that doesn't say femslash then I don't know what does.

Author's Summary: Who are the ominous-looking men in dark suits and terribly impractical sunglasses, and why are they so convinced that they're about to pull off the greatest heist in the planet's history?

Recced because: The characterisation of Erimem is brilliant and her typically clear-eyed observations of herself and her friends are a joy. She's finding her feet and trying to work out how she fits in with the Doctor and Peri, deciding who she is now she's no longer a pharoah-in-training. She's learning to be brave in a world she never expected, and eponymous_rose conveys this beautifully. The plot is slight but entertaining, the villains are fun and it's told in a beautifully self aware way. And, appropriately for audio fic, I can hear the voices of the characters very strongly in my head as I read.

Recced because: Captain Jack. Meeting (and sometimes shagging) his way through the DW canon. A tremendous amount of fun, and even if you don't know each character involved (I still haven't read any non-fanfic Fitz, myself) there's bound to be some you know and love. Some gorgeous characterizations - "It’s not as if I expected to walk into your—invisible spaceship, now, is it?” Harry retorted, nettled. “Now, look here, old chap, you can’t just leave things like this lying about where anyone could trip over them." - a mix of funny, insightful, and hot scenes, and a moment in UNIT's history that will keep me amused for the rest my life just picturing it all add up to an incredibly enjoyable fic.

Recced because: It's hilarious. Sometimes you just want to read something fun. First, though, despite the summary, this story is gen. Also, the Doctor and Peri don't really get married. Not exactly, anyway. What happens is that Peri commits a cultural faux pas, and she and the Doctor end up as "guests" of the planet's high priest, who has certain expectations of them. Peri and the Doctor, less than pleased with the situation, plot an escape. There's a lot of amusing banter along the way, plus some sweet bonding between Six and Peri. When well written, they make a great team.
