Recced because: Sarah Jane Smith is my favourite companion, and digitalfletch chose to honour her portrayer's memory by writing a story in which the Doctor saves her. Never mind the fact there's awesome Doctor/Sarah shippiness.

Excerpt:

‘This’ was smooth and creamy and tasted of honey, overlain with a sharper, tangy flavor of something she couldn’t quite put her finger on. It slid soothingly down her throat like ice cream on a midsummer’s day. “Mmm, that’s lovely. What is it?”

He set the bottle down on a nearby table. “Just a little concoction of my own. Two parts safaran and allurium, one part Callyptus root, and a dash of the Elixir of Life thrown in for good measure.”

She had no idea what most of that was, but the last bit sounded familiar. “The Elixir of Life? You mean…the one from Karn?”

“Yep. Won’t make you immortal, I’m afraid, but it should speed up the healing process quite nicely.”

Sarah gaped at him. The Elixir of Life. The one that helped the Time Lords regenerate. Possibly one of the most treasured substances in the known universe, and one of which there was precious little supply. That he would share even a drop with a human such as herself — she felt immeasurably touched, honored…and very humbled.

“Doctor — thank you,” she said in a small voice.

He shook his head at her, his brown eyes warm with affection. “The world’s not ready to do without you just yet, Sarah Jane Smith.” He reached out and lightly brushed the hair back from her forehead. “And neither am I.”

And even though Sarah Jane had finally seen what the Doctor looked like when he was in love – a look Sarah Jane now accepted would never be directed at her – she wondered whether it was going to be enough.

Recced because: "But...you could come with us." The line that prompted a million AUs! Well, not exactly - but it should have, because what would have been better than Sarah Jane back in the TARDIS? This take on it specifically explores Rose and Sarah Jane's relationship with the two of them as companions (a dynamic further complicated by the Doctor being stubborn and oblivious). The friction between Rose and Sarah is wonderful; even as they become close - and closer! - Sarah struggles to adapt to this new generation of the TARDIS crew, and to define the limits of both old and new relationships.

Recced because: I've seen a lot of "Luke is really the Doctor and Sarah Jane's biological child!" stories, but this is the first one I've seen to convincingly pull it off. I was thrilled, because I was always really taken with the idea, but couldn't think of any way to make it work with canon. This fic takes that intriguing premise and runs with it, weaving a very clever story that uses all the tools canon gave it.

I managed to miss yesterday, so, since I had the week all planned you get two in a row to make up for that. So I bring you two pieces of Sarah/Doctor smut.

Oh, and if that isn't enough for you there's a bit where the Tenth Doctor runs about naked with spectacles on.
