The world-building is beautiful, the characters and settings vibrant and alive, and the ending is a bittersweet reminder of how the Doctor lives from one moment to another, rarely looking back.

Recc'ed Because: According to the author: "This happened because I read the entire Eleven-Era Kink Meme in two days. My fanfic motto: EMBRACE ALL THE TROPES. I regret nothing." Folks, there is nothing to regret here: it is a glorious trope fic. An "aliens sort of make them do it" fic? Or maybe a "shag to save the world" fic. But unlike the way some of these tropes can go dark and angsty, this one stays firmly in the "hot and hilarious" category, yet still managing to keep enough away from full-on crack fic to add some subtler depth of character as well. It's a particular trope that one needs to handle with care to get right, but the author does that; keeping each character true, and I also appreciate how the situation unfolds in a way that the eventual sexytimes are consensual and more of a consummation of an underlying desire on both sides. DID I MENTION THERE ARE ALSO ROBOT GOATS? Did I? It's that kind of fic. There is also a breezy style, pitch-perfect Eleven and Amy banter (yes, he never stops talking...), and I laughed so hard, but yeah, also, it's totally hot.

Recc'ed because: A re-imagining of Human Nature but with Eleven and Amy instead of Ten and Martha. Amy is just in the right position to fall in love and is just childish enough to keep things going when she knows she shouldn't. Romantic and hot and poignant and sad, and the love story is so much more doomed for it being Amy and Eleven because she's not only messing with the Doctor's human life, but what she does will have repercussions for when he "comes back", and she knows it.

This fic is grim, wonderfully written and well worth your time.

Recced because: This is a lovely piece of post-5-2 fic that addresses the Doctor’s 'outburst' during the climax of that episode in a way that isn’t wangsty or overdramatic. Amy’s feelings regarding the whole Beast Below deal are written very well– after all, what would it be like to discover that your Raggedy Doctor, your wonderful imaginary friend and your childhood hero who came back for you after all those years, had a temper and made mistakes? It’s funny, sweet and a great interlude between 5-2 and 5-3.

It's convincing, heartbreaking, and gorgeously, lyrically written. Sensual, tasteful, and very in-tune with the characters. I find myself returning to it again and again.

Recced because: This is an incredibly well-crafted story. It's lyrical, heartbreaking, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It switches back and forth between Amy and the Doctor's perspectives, but the imagery provides a visual motif that ties it all together really elegantly. Maybe it's a bit English-major-y to say that, but that really is how well this piece works.

And though it's end is a little painful, I really can't see this Doctor doing anything else, and it's part of what makes this story so worth the read.

Saywheeeee has captured the characters perfectly and uses them beautifully. This story is the fourth part in a larger series, and the author recommends that you read the others first. However I think this stands very well by itself, though of course I urge you to read the others as well.
