Recced because: This story has a great dark and creepy feel to it, with the occasional flash of humor. I like the setting, and how the Master is worked into the plot:
The summer of 1895, Jack's main (in point of fact, only) competition on the unkillables circuit went by the imposing name of Koshey the Deathless.
Jack is operating on limited information while the reader knows more, which is very effective in several places in particular.
