Recced because: When I put together my rec list for this week, I had no idea that livii would be one of my fellow reccers, or that another one of her Martha/Harry stories would be linked this week. But I'm reccing this story anyway, because it's lovely.

I have a soft spot for any fic in which the characters accidentally (and temporarily) have to live normal lives, and 1969 fic falls squarely into that category. Pairing Martha Jones with Harry Sullivan, who would have been her contemporary at the time, makes this particular 1969 fic that much more special. Bumbling, slightly stuffy, sweet-natured Harry meets his match in Martha, a relationship livii has explored in other stories, but this one recounts their earliest days together – a first meeting with the accident-prone Harry, and subsequent dates that culminate in Martha's revelation that she's somewhat more than she appears to be. It's a charming love story between what looks on the surface like a very unlikely pair, but by the end of this story, Martha and Harry seem made for each other.

Thank you, hon! I am amused and very pleased to see all this Martha/Harry being recced; perhaps it will inspire more people to write it!

(And I had the same sort of feeling when you recced a DW/Angel crossover on Monday, since I had a DW/Angel crossover ready to go as well. Great minds, and all that...)

I haven't seen any episodes with Harry in ... um ... nearly 25 years (feeling a bit old now), or I'd be willing to write that pairing. Perhaps I should make a rewatch of some of the old Four episodes a summer project ...

I'm afraid that Martha/Harry makes my brain break; the age difference is just too much for me to see them romantically. I can see mentor/mentee friendship there, but not romance.

It's a smaller age difference than any Doctor/Companion pairing, even Doctor/Romana, though! :D

You can set it in 1969 or anywhere in the past, as well, and make them closer in age. :)

True, but most Doctor/Companion pairings break my brain too, though that depends more on the particular Doctor; some are shippier than others.
