Since this is my last day, I'd like to say it's been an absolute pleasure reccing for you all this week! I hope everyone's found at least one thing they might not have from this latest batch (waves also to [livejournal.com profile] lizbee and [livejournal.com profile] wendymr)-- I know I have :) So, I suppose the question is, should I go out with a whimper or a bang? How about...

Story: The Boy Who Killed Time
Author: Netgirl_y2k
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1345
Author's Summary: There are ghosts in the TARDIS.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Martha, Multi-Era
Warnings: None given

Recced because: This is a story about the Tenth Doctor and the repercussions of the Time War, unfolding through the eyes of Martha who starts seeing apparitions of the past throughout the TARDIS. It's a chilling tale, both in the power that the Doctor has, and the consequences of wielding it, and it makes us (those of us who think too hard about such things) stop and wonder, What if this were all real, and the Doctor was as flawed as television heroes can never be? The answer is simply 1300 words or so until the end of the line.

There are ghosts in the TARDIS.

Some Martha sees quite frequently, the elderly man with the walking stick, the bloke wearing the comedy scarf, the man with the blonde curls who dressed like he'd been hit by a fast moving circus tent.

Some she's only seen once or twice, the cute boy in the kilt, the woman dressed as an air hostess, the girl in the animal skins.

Oh, wow. I hadn't seen this one before, and I'm so glad you recced it. Chilling, yes, as [livejournal.com profile] neadods says, haunting and poignant. The Doctor repeating the names of the dead planets... oh :( And that final scene with him and Martha. Thank you for drawing this to my attention.

Just to note that this is perhaps the scariest bit of Whofic ever written. Seriously. Be prepared to finish it in a quivery little ball.

This was, indeed, chilling and marvelous. I favorited it a while back because it made me uncomfortable and sad - which is just what, I think, it was supposed to do. Extremely good.
