Story: The Boy Who Killed Time (The Last Love Song Remix)
Author: rosa_acicularis
Rating: All Ages
Author's summary: There are ghosts in the TARDIS, and music in the corridors.
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Martha Jones, Jamie, Susan, Leela, Eighth Doctor, Rose, Romana, many other cameos
Warnings: none
Word Count: 8,840

Recced because: Written for this year's Remix fest (and with the author revealed just in time for me to use it as my last rec of the week), this story takes the excellent original, The Boy Who Killed Time by [livejournal.com profile] netgirl_y2k (previously recced on the comm here!), pulls out the original idea and, by changing the point of view character, creates a brand new piece of art. There are consequences to playing with time, the Doctor learns, and as reality fades, the ghosts come out of the woodwork. This story alternates deftly between lightness and a deep chilling fear, and uses the whole DW canon to create a piece of poetry; the writing is intensely good, the characterization superb, and the emotional impact is gut-wrenching but entirely truthful. The scene with Leela and the Eighth Doctor on Gallifrey is my particular favourite, with its bang-on observations, but this is really a story to be enjoyed as a whole, as it slots together with grim determinism, a love song indeed – to the entire concept of the show. An astonishingly good piece of work.

Story: Tastes Like You
Author: StockingSatsuma
Rating: Adult
Word Count: 4,695
Author's Summary: Just another little tribute to Ten's lovely habit of licking stuff.
Characters/Pairings: Ten/Rose
Warnings: None

Recced because: If there is one thing I am a complete sucker for, it's funny smut, and this story unquestionably fits the bill. The Tenth Doctor's habit of licking things has long since become a smutfic cliché, but it's used to more clever effect here when Rose discovers that the Doctor can taste her emotions, meaning she'll have to be very careful about not thinking certain thoughts. For someone who claims this is her first Doctor Who fic – and to date, it's the only one she's posted on Teaspoon – StockingSatsuma does a terrific job capturing the Doctor and Rose's voices in some very snappy dialogue.

Story: Under the Skin
Author: HonorH
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 8847
Author's Summary: Intern doctor Martha Jones doesn't expect the appearance of heiress Rose Tyler in her ER to turn her life upside-down, but after Rose starts appearing in Martha's dreams, Martha begins to realize that they're both in danger . . .
Characters/Pairings: Martha Jones, Rose Tyler
Warnings: N/A

Recced because: There are not enough Martha and Rose stories out there, and this is one I keep coming back to. Rose in her new universe becomes the patient of intern Martha Jones, and due to some wacky Torchwood hijinks, Martha ends up in Rose's dreams. Martha without the Doctor is still the same as Martha *with* the Doctor, if a little less travelled. She's still smart and clever and quick on her feet, and doesn't let little things like comas or impossible aliens get in her way. And Rose *after* the Doctor is exactly what I would expect to see - she's working at Torchwood and trying to build a life for herself.
