Story: The Doctor and the Daffodils.
Author: Eledhwen.
Rating: All Ages.
Word Count: 2163
Author's Summary: He froze, staring in disbelief at the large blue box dominating a corner of the room. It was still and quiet, but it sang to him.
Characters/Pairings: Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Jo Grant, Sergeant Benton, The Doctor (3rd), UNIT, Jack Harkness
Warnings: None.

Recced because: I absolutely love this story because it has Jack meeting the Doctor, when the Doctor was with UNIT. It is kind of sweet too. Jack after the Game Station, and the Doctor prior to the Time War, giving each other the once over. And there are daffodils involved.

Story: Great Things Have Happened
Author: Doyle
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1783
Author's Summary: Evelyn gets sent on a Christmas errand. If only she knew what for...
Characters/Pairings: Evelyn Smythe, Barbara Wright, Sixth Doctor
Warnings: None

Recced because: This is one of my absolute favorite stories in the Who fandom; it is, in fact, the one I signed up to recommend. Doyle does a spot-on Evelyn voice, with beautifully-characterized appearances from Six and Barbara. The ending always makes me catch my breath as Evelyn's mysterious Christmas errand turns out to be both less and more than it appears. Finally, the prose is wonderful, with so many little quotable snippets that I had serious trouble picking a sample for you.

Story: A Perfect Place
Author: rallalon
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 4321
Author's Summary: Chan, she loves him, tho.
Characters/Pairings: Chantho/Yana
Warnings: None

Recced because: It's rare to find fic about either of these two, and rarer still to find one that fits so seamlessly with canon. The setting is simple enough - Chantho and Professor Yana in the buildup to Utopia, with all the wonderful absurdities that arise when you place two alien cultures against the backdrop of the end of the universe. From the initial, tentative interactions to all the little misunderstandings that follow, the author builds up a wonderfully tense feeling of desperation even as the titular perfect place draws nearer.
