[identity profile] dbskyler.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] calufrax
Hello everyone! I'm [personal profile] dbskyler, your reccer for the week, and I'm excited to be back again to share more of my favorite stories with you. To start us off, here's a great story for a Monday:

Story: In the Garden
Author: RobinC
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 2039
Author's Summary: How do you thank someone for saving the world -- again? Minor spoilers for Planet of the Dead.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Other Character
Warnings: None

Recced because: This fic takes what is essentially a throwaway line from "Planet of the Dead" and tells us the story behind it. (However, knowledge of the throwaway line is not needed, nor are there any real spoilers.) The central question addressed in the fic is a simple one: the Doctor deserves to be thanked for all the times he has saved the world, but what could possibly serve as an appropriate expression of gratitude? On one level this fic is pure fluff -- sweet and joyous fluff -- but there's another level here, one that delves into just who the Doctor is and how he is seen by others. The combination is a thoughtful and uplifting tale that is sure to leave you with a smile on your face.

Does he even regard a title as an honour? Certainly he does not care about conventional social status. More than once, the Doctor has claimed the authority to speak on behalf of her entire planet. What can a few letters after his name possibly mean to him?
