Recced because: I've lost count of the number of times I've read this story, and yet it *still* makes me cry every time. It's a beautifully written look at Liz post-UNIT, that's funny and moving by turns, and vvj5 has all the characters' voices spot on. Plus, the alien is interesting.
“So what is it you wanted to say?”
The girl was sitting forward on the other chair, her hands around the mug of tea, but she hadn’t drunk any yet. “It’s difficult. I thought — tonight — I thought you might understand, but it all sounds so mad. I shouldn’t have come.”
“Try me,” said Liz, smiling at her. “If I’d told the truth back there, everyone else would have thought I was mad too. Why don’t you start with your name and move on to the rest?”
She coloured. “Janey Lewis. I’ve got an alien in my head.”
